This is a fantastic book, especially for the price. If you’re interested in growing food I’d highly recommend it because it walks you though step by step what you need to do, what tools you’ll need, when you should plant things (month by month), when things will harvest, how you get ready for future years, what the best things to grow are (even a guide about what’s easy to grow but expensive to buy for example), etc.
Also, it’s a big book – because of the low price I assumed that it would be quite small, but it’s A4 size and it’s over 200 pages long.
A very nice book overall, I’d be lost without it now!

I nice addition to my growing library of allotment, vegtable growing books. Good detailed information on the most common veg and fruit grown on allotments. Nicely set out, with lots of pictures. Some of it is a little basic but I’m happy with this book overall. A nice publication with all the information to get you started with your allotment.

Excellent book purchased at Christmas for my pal who has just got into gardening and growing fruit & veg. This is a superior book which has been nicely published with good quality paper in hardback. Don’t be put off by the word ‘allotment’, as my pal doesn’t have an allotment but everything in the book is relevent to anyone with a patch of earth/garden etc not just allotment. This is the best book I’ve found re fruit & veg, and is great for the novice or gardening pro. Buy it, you won’t be disappointed.

Kindle version. This is a useful book at reasonable cost , –
However, –
1) It takes a L O N G time to load, – perhaps because of the many quality pictures.
2) It would not load on my keyboard Kindle. Came up with error message, – not compatible with this device, – or words to that effect: so, from that point of view the book is worthless if you only have a kindle.
3) The text is of a very poor, indistinct, font and is difficult to read. There are too many pointless pictures.
4) The book covers most of the essential topics, but is fairly basic and seems aimed at the beginner.
5) The text is not real text,- just an image, so there is no search facility, which makes the kindle version not very useful.
In the end I bought the paper copy ! It is a good book for basi allotment information on fruit and veg growing, just buy the paper version!
