Just loved Royal and Jess a great story well written I did want to knock both their heads together at times be we got there in the end and oh sweet sweet river. Just the right amount of action and bit of steam was great to get a glimpse of some old friends

This book is about Royal’s story with Jessica. I love that we still get the previous characters.
This starts off in the past and then goes to present day so far in. I was getting irritated with Jess when she left they way she did, then shows up 5 years later wanting help but still has not told Royal the truth. It did annoy me.

This is Jessica’s messed up life. She trusted her High School boyfriend, but he had become a controlling abusive jerk who traded her to Royal for a stake in a poker game. Her boyfriend Ritchie lost the game so Royal and his friends took her with them. Jessica had enough of the abuse and was already planning for her cousin to remove her from her tormentor, so only the location changed. This story mostly begins 5 years later when Jessica is again running for safety.
There is distrust, angst, fear, action and so much more.
