Royal Guard
£3.30
He’s nothing like the men back home. He’s as big and rugged as the Texas landscape. He might call me “Your Highness” but those blue eyes burn the clothes right off my body. I have to swap my dress and tiara for jeans and a plaid shirt and he shows me an America full of horses and sunsets and kisses in the rain. But the conspiracy goes further than we dreamed. To save my country, I must return home and take the throne long before I’m ready. And to protect me, Garrett must put on a suit and become a palace guard, forbidden to touch me, let alone kiss me.
I know we can’t be together. I know princesses don’t get to fall in love. So what do I do? Because I’ve completely fallen for this man.
Standalone romantic suspense with guaranteed HEA and no cliffhanger

I have enjoyed reading this book but it would have been more enjoyable if there had been less chapter’s about the two main characters feelings for each other as the storyline was good in places, but just as you were reading a gritty bit the author relapsed into the two main characters expressing their trust to each other and it took away the spark of the main storyline. The latter half of the book was the best and I just feel if the first half had been as good I would have given it five stars. It’s like the author had all these chapters written down and she just decided to put them together without any idea how they should go.

I couldn’t put this one down. It had me by the throat from the start. I’m only sorry it’s ended. It had everything, a thrill a minute, love, only a little sexy stuff, horror, oh and did I say love.
What else, oh yes, a happy ending!! We need more like this one. But not till I’ve had a rest. It’s wore me out.
Congratulations Helena it’s a winner. xx’

I’ve really enjoyed Helena Newberry’s books. The O’Harra brothers series and Alaska Wild were all good reads, so I was disappointed to find that Saving the Princess was a bit boring. I normally read one of Newberry’s book in a single day, but this one took me ten… After reading eight of her books, her style is starting to feel a ‘formulaic’. For example, in every book, the couple have sex for the first time exactly halfway through. Knowing that sort of kills the ‘suspense’.
I also got really tired of Garrett – the male main character – referring to himself as dumb, or mentioning his ‘big paws’. And Kristina, the titular princess, was just a tad too ‘helpless female’ for my liking. I hope Newberry goes back to the drawing board for her next romantic suspense.

I loved this, Helena didn’t disappoint.
Marine saves a beautiful girl who just happens to be a princess. Attempts are made on her life and he steps up to protect her as no one can be trusted. Great story of a cat and mouse chase, it was thrilling and although on occasion a little bit hard to believe it didn’t matter as it played out like a bond movie.
The characters were really good and I loved the fact that the romance was patient and chaste, it was balanced and flowed really well. Utterly captivating and entertaining.
I would recommend this if you like a bit of adventure, drama, romance, action, suspense and fun.

another epic book, I have enjoyed every book I have read by Helena, and this one was no exception, it was fast moving, full of twists and turns and you didn’t see half of the twists coming, the main characters were both strong in different ways and complimented each other perfectly, Garrett the ex-marine big and strong and Kristina small but not weak at all, she was a princess that cared about her country and people. Garrett vowed to protect her and did, great story!

I really enjoyed this story and the characters, lots of action scenes but lots of swoony (and spicy) romance too, perfect!
