Really informative if you know a potential officer
by M. Marriott
Clear and concise, really gives you a great insight if you are set on becoming an officer. The book encourages you to do your research and learn about the corps and its history, current affairs and psychometric tests, which will give you the edge when you reach the poc.

The author provides sound advice for passing interviews. However, his knowledge of the POC/AIB is dated and these books are not positioned to provide assistance on key areas such as contemporary geopolitical knowledge, or essay topics.
I have read other books in Richard McMunn’s series (e.g. Speed, Distance, Time; How to Pass AIB) and there were numerous typos in each of them (even in some equations!). Therefore, my conclusion would be that these books are helpful if you have no knowledge of the process, though limited by dated/insufficient knowledge and inadequate editing.
Given McMunns background, I’m not of the opinion that he is the best candidate to be providing a series of books purporting to cover all areas of military job applications; I feel that he has spread himself too thin.

This book was a really useful starting place for me to start thinking about my officer application. It has some really good hints and tips for answering questions at the various interviews you will encounter and helped fill out my Officer Applicant Questionnaire, by getting you in the right mindset to then expand with your own experience. I fell like the book goes into the AIB a bit too much considering the How2become series includes another book solely on AIB. It would be useful for it to go into a bit more depth on tasks at POC such as the short presentation and essay writing, with a few hints and tips on how to make you stand out.
Overall a useful book but do make sure you use other sources to build up a greater overall picture of the section process. Also check the answers to some of the questions provided as some are now out of date.

Some of the information in here is so basic its more like common sense. Lots of the info can be accessed on the internet for free. The guy who writes it seems very arrogant and constantly bigs himself up. No real useful insight to be gained from reading this book.
