Ruins of Temptation : A Dark Enemies to Lovers Romance (Corium University Book 4)
£4.60
I’ve spent years trying to be someone I’m not.
Controlled and humanized.
Still, the darkness lurks inside me, waiting for a chance to break free.
As the headmaster at Corium University, I must maintain professionalism and keep myself in check.
I manage to do that until the day I discover I have a daughter and all the carefully constructed walls I’ve built around myself start to crumble.
I know I need an outlet, a way to shut it off, and then she lands in my lap.
Delilah.
I want to punish her, humiliate her, and hurt her in the best ways.
It’s nothing but a cat and mouse game till I discover the secrets she’s hiding…

A fantastic continuation! There are some trigger warnings, so make sure you read them before continuing. You will enjoy this dark and twisted romance, especially if it’s your go to genre. I was completely engrossed within the first chapter and couldn’t put it down. Enjoy this riveting, steamy and intense page turner!.

ARC from Author – No spoilers – Book 4 Corium University series ends on a cliffhanger. Dual POV
* Books 1-3 are Quinton and Aspen’s story * Books 4/5 are Lucas and Delilahs*
CW: Contact details provided by the authors in the foreword for potential readers to reach out regarding triggers. However this is a DARK age gap Romance and does contain sex, abuse, violence and death.
*Please look after yourself as this book will not be for everyone*
Firstly, after a lot of thought I decided against reading the first Trilogy before starting this Duet.
The blurb said can be read as a standalone and I did not want my opinion of this couple tainted by bias. Spin off series hazard thus I am entering Corium University eyes wide open with an air of trepidation, ignorance and excitement!
So, this book hits the ground running and you will know by the end of the first chapter if you want to go on. I love this genre so no hesitation for me.
It is Dark, uncomfortable many times but also addictive and compelling.
Both the main characters are deeply flawed and make you want to scream out loud periodically. They are also vulnerable, filled with guilt, anguish, loneliness, rage. No mediocre feelings here, the pendulum swings violently from start to finish.
You have characters from the first three books visiting and some of the back story which filled in the gaps for me so I made the right decision with hindsight. The setting is already established so I didn’t get much of that but in all honesty, this is not about the University or students but a story of revenge and lust.
I both disliked / liked Lucas and Delilah in accordance to their actions at that time. Understood their thought processes, reactions etc all based on age, history, fight or flight and so on but Boy do they need Help! My feelings were a direct indication of the both the authors skills, superb writing as always.
Cannot wait to read Reign of Freedom, am sure there are plenty more revelations in store, quite how redemption can be earned I do not know but what I am certain of is that it will be explosive.

Having met Lucas in Nics book, I was so excited to start his duet, and it didn’t disappoint. My heart breaks for Delilah, she’s been used and tossed aside her whole life, and now the one person she only ever loved has done worse. The cliff hanger is so intense can’t wait to read the next one

This is not a standalone.
Contains some content that some readers may find uncomfortable or triggering.
Delilah drew the short straw, she was born a girl, and that was not acceptable for her father, being sent away, with very little acknowledgment from her father and brothers, craving what she’s never had, love, attention, acceptance. Due to not having love and affection she’s a little bit more naive.
The last person that gave her attention is dead.
After the events in Aspen and Quinton’s books, Delilah is captured by Quinton, she has connections to the family who harmed Aspen. And Quinton wants answers along with Lucas.
Finding out that Lucas is in fact Aspens biological Father. And that she was hidden from him all these years, which at the time was the right move made by Aspens birth Mother. He wants to get to know her. He was a totally different person back then, darker than he is now, but his dark twisted side is still there. And it’s aimed at Delilah.
After being held prisoner for how long she was locked up for. She’s now living in Lucas’ appartment, but with strick instructions she must follow. Attending classes, the name calling.
Lucas and the way he makes her feel, she should have these feelings for him.
Delilah is getting under his skin. His dark and twisted side comes to the surface, humiliating and tormenting her is fun for him.
She finds out that it was Aspen who killed the only guy who had given her any kind of affection. She knew he wasn’t a good guy. She ate up what he told her. Because she craved any sort of attention. Word gets to her to get to Aspen, befriend her so that they can get to her. But they’re caught. And Delilah is locked up again. It’s a shock finding out that Aspen is Lucas’ daughter. But Aspen is desperate for friends considering what she went through. She helps Delilah escape Corium.
When Delilah gets to the address she was given before Quinton got to her, her life has just gotten even worse.
With the help from his brother, Lucas knows where Delilah is.
Will he go save her or leave her there

When I started to read this book I felt as though I’d missed something and, for me, it didn’t flow; I just couldn’t get into it at all.
I was given an ARC of this book via Hidden Gems but it wasn’t made clear that this was part 4 of a series, knowing that now explains why I struggled with the storyline and characters. I persevered up to chapter 5 but then gave up.
I have rated this as a 4 star purely based on other books I’ve read by these authors, which I’ve always enjoyed.
I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I love these corium books. They are so intense. A page turner that you will surely enjoy if you like dark books. JL Beck and C Hallman always deliver a great read. The only downfall is the next book is the last. I will definitely read all these again. I love Amber and Quinton. Delilah was a pawn to lure Amber into danger, but who will save Delilah?
