Saints Like Him (Redemption Ridge Book Three)

£4.90

From ex-con to self-made millionaire, there’s no challenge too tough for Cash Sweeney to conquer. So why has he spent twelve years pining for his best friend instead of doing something about it? Because losing Nick would be like existing with half of his heart. Is it better to settle for what he can have or battle for what he wants?

Banged up and burned out, FBI Agent Nick Scott arrives at Redemption Ridge with a trunkful of luggage and a yearning heart. Cash is easy to love but hard to read, and Nick fears his epiphany has come too late. Does he tuck his tail and run or fight for the man who’s become his home?

Tender gestures and heartfelt conversations lead to thrilling revelations neither man can ignore. No more what-ifs or maybes. Cash and Nick are all in. And they’ll need each other more than ever when a devious enemy emerges from the shadows to put their promising future at risk. With the stakes so high, will the guys double down or fold to pressure?

Saints Like Him is book three in the Redemption Ridge series. Though each story features a different couple, reading the series in order is essential. Saints Like Him contains mature themes and is intended for adults.

The cover for this book is a perfect representation of the swoony and intimate story that appears within its pages.

Aimee has crafted such a gorgeous romance here between two people I’ve been dying to get the background of since the series started.

We don’t get to know everything, but we do get an insight into their love story which has been 12 years in the making, strangely the same age difference between the younger FBI agent and our brilliant ranch owner and second chance giver, once Nick shows up at the ranch unexpected and injured.

It’s incredibly moving to see him struggling with how the life he’s always thought he wanted has turned out to not be his future, and his libido has been flagging as his stresses over wanting to quit the FBI grow.

It’s also beautiful to see how Cash just accepts him as he is, welcomes him “home” and begins to show him just how much freer his life can be after they’ve let loose their fears and confessed their love.

And ooooh boy do they make up for the years when they’ve danced around their feelings and just been “friends”.

Aimee delivers some seriously intimate and gorgeously emotional scenes between them which also burn up the pages with the decade and more of pent-up sexual tension they’ve got stored up.

I loved how each moment comes for a specific purpose, it’s either as a comfort, or it’s used to pull back one or the other out of a negative mindset that’s sending them into a spiral of worry. It’s not always full on either, sometimes it’s the intimacy of sitting and cuddling, exchanging lazy kisses and planning a future.

Of course, we all know something’s going to come and knock them off kilter and that takes the form of the same cultish group that’s been harassing the ranch throughout the series.

No spoilers here, but things come to a head in a way I wasn’t expecting but which made perfect sense to me and helped bring a number of threads together.

As I’ve said with the other books, I appreciate that we’re not bashed over the head with future couples.

Instead we get gentle hints as to potential pairings and I’m super pleased to see we’re getting books about the four people I’ve been hoping to see get together- in two different relationships, not as a foursome!

Up next is going to be Tyler and Owen’s best friends to lovers and I’m looking forward to that a lot.

The fifth book will give me my second most eagerly awaited character after Cash himself when we get Sheriff Seth Burke’s HEA. I’ll leave you to find out who that will hopefully be with when you read this one!

There’s a potential for a sixth book, but I’m not sure if Aimee plans for that one yet. I think it would be an interesting, and emotionally affecting, story to tell. If she does, I’ll be here for it.

I am loving this series, ranch life and hot ranch hands. They are a family, a chosen family, who are brilliant together, have each others backs, laugh a lot, are nosy and love to gossip and will bet on anything. Cash owns the ranch and most of the guys have been in prison and are turning their lives around with his help.

Since book one I have been dying to know the background between Cash and his best friend FBI agent Nick. It was obvious there was more to them but what. In this book we find out that they had a very steamy weekend together when they met 12 years ago but both were chasing their careers and chose the friend zone instead of pursuing a relationship. Seems they have been pining for each other ever since. The cover for this book is gorgeous and really sums up Cash and Nick and their deep love for one another.

When Nick turns up at the ranch unexpectedly, injured, thin and burnt out, Cash doesn’t hesitate to help him and welcomes him “home”. Seems like they both regret opting for friends not lovers and oh boy do they make up for the lost 12 years, they cannot keep their hands off each other and there are lots of really ????scenes and a lot of emotional ones as they delve into their past and talk about their hopes for the future.

The ongoing storyline around the religious cult harassing the town comes to a head and puts Cash and his family in serious danger.

There are so many adorable characters in these books and I am pleased to find out which couples are getting their stories in the next two books.

Aimee Nicole Walker writes such good and engaging stories and I highly recommend you read this series.

If one cover photo fits a book well, than it’s this one.

It’s a story of hurt, love, feeling lost and finding home and one I hoped for since book 1.

Nick and Cash had one hot weekend, 12 years ago, and since then put each other firmly into the friend zone while unknowingly to each other pinning for more.

When Nick arrives at the ranch, injured, burnt out and with determination that 12 years are long enough to wait, Cash is just there, offering him everything he needs and craves.

I love Cash’s simple acceptance that Nick’s feelings are genuine and that both want the same thing, going forward together instead of staying alone. Bit by bit, Nick is healing and looking at a bright future again.

The majority of the book is their love story, some threads from the two previous books are picked up and do give a surprise conclusion. It adds to the story but it’s really more a love story and a mystery.
With so long being friends, there is not really a lot of character discovery but enough is descripted and revealed to ensure both Cash and Nick are shown with depth and history.

I just want to take both and wrap in bubblewrap to keep them safe and happy.

Cash’s found family is there as expected and it’s lovely to see that they also just accept Nick into their fold as Cash’s man, some ribbing included.

We will return to Redemption Ridge and I can’t wait for the next book.
