Ahh Sibby, she’s a character and I LOVE her.
This novella gives you a terrific insight into the writing style of H.D. Carlton. It’s suggested that you read this before you read the Cat and Mouse duet, however I read it after and it gave me an incredibly different insight into Sibby.
Her relationship with her henchmen is solid, a found family if you will, and her mission is clear. To rid the world of the evil that wanders the streets, praying on unsuspecting victims. Her murderous mission is a clear trauma response to her previous life, but in no way do you feel that it’s unjustified. H.D. Carlton writes in such a way that you are rooting for Sibby, every step of the way.
There is a fair bit more gore in this than the rest of the series (Haunting/Hunting) but as I said before, an excellent transition into H.D. Carlton’s writing style if it’s something you’re not sure you’ll enjoy!
Happy Reading!

Only read this if you don’t mind lots of gore, serious smut and a love of the psychotic.
I won’t spoil it but this book made me seriously consider what can turn some people on, it’s was an ok book but thought that there was a lot of repetition in it and unfortunately I saw the twist coming a mile off, but if you don’t mind the triggers you may enjoy this book

Satan’s Affair by H.D Carlton ????????????
7/10 ⭐️
3/5 ????️
Prequel Novella to Cat and Mouse Duet (Haunting and Hunting Adeline).
Satan’s Affair is a travelling haunted amusement attraction home to Sibel and her henchmen. She has a special gift for smelling out the evil and has made it her life mission to remove it from the world.
A quick read after finishing Haunting and Hunting Adeline but it was nice to learn more about Sibby and her Henchmen. Some spicy scenes ????️ but since it’s less than 200 pages I couldn’t have expect there to be more.

Not what I expected but it was still a great read and a good understanding to the books that came after highly recommended but not for the faint hearted

Where do I start with this book??
Warning: Spoilers below
Let’s start with the main character, Sibel or Sibby as her friends call her, to me she is a very complex character with an extremely dark past which we learn about as we read through her story. You can definitely see why Sibby is the way she is from learning about how she was born and raised, as well as the horrors she faced growing up.
Her relationship with her Henchmen is a complex one, which features a lot of twists and turns throughout the story especially at the end. I will say that I did see those twists coming but I don’t think that hindered the way I was reading the story if anything, it actually added to the story as I was then reading the interactions with different perspectives which added a lot of depth and range to them from spicy scenes to actual heartbreaking ones. I also found that when reading those scenes there was an extra element of mystery as I was trying to work out what was true and what was false.
I also really loved the interactions with Zade in this too, the way his brain worked out fairly quickly what was going on with Sibby and it was actually really sweet seeing them work together to try and stop the “demons” as Sibby calls them (which are actually just evil people to be honest involved in Dark web stuff if you catch my meaning). Seeing them work together and seeing him respect her which an extra layer of interaction that I really loved and I hope that they get to interaction more in future books.
I will say for people wondering about the gory/ murder scenes that they were very explicit and gruesome which from someone who loves horror the scenes did not bother me too much as my brain knows is fictional and as i said i love horror and i have watched a lot of thrillers/murder mysteries growing up but to people who are sensitive to that I would say that it might be too gruesome for some. There is a lot of stabbings so if you can watch Halloween/Scream you should be okay with that part.
Warnings/triggers/spoilers:
I will say there was one scene in particular involving a spiked bat which did make me cringe a little bit and that might be too much for some people. If you have ever watched the movie Seven you might understand where I am coming from and whether or not you can stomach that.
I also want to say I really loved the playlist that was made for this book. It really helped to get me into the Circus themed vibe for this book, which can I just say I loved Satan’s Affair the circus I thought that was really cool and really helped to add to the creepy aesthetic going throughout the book.
My only issue with this story was that it was way too short. I would have loved to have read more especially with that ending, i wanted to see what happens next! I definitely feel that Sibby needs her own duet which to my knowledge is coming soon so I cannot wait for that especially as i have an idea of where the duet will be based from the ending of this one.

Never expected an ending like that. Wow. Slow burner at first but gets more and kore intense as you read more. Wish there was more as i would love to see what happened with Sibby. Worth the read. X

I loved seeing and reading Sibbys POV, I cried so hard when I read about her, I couldn’t believe some of it and the end had me gasping! I can’t wait for the others!

I got the book yesterday and haven’t been able to put it down since! It’s a bit gruesome but I just skimmed over them bits because I wanted to read this so Ik whether to read Haunted Adeline or not. Don’t forget to read the viewer discretion.
I’ve got a few chapters left and I’ve already bought Haunted Adeline because it looks really good and the author has a really cool writing style! Reading the book you find out how badass Sibby is and why she does what she does. I’m on like page 80 or something like that so can’t wait to see how it ends. I’m hoping the ending is good, I don’t see a reason why it wouldn’t be. So excited to read Haunted Adeline when it comes tomorrow!!!!! ????????✨
Okay so I just finished the book and I’m absolutely stunned! I didn’t see that coming H.D Carlton is a good writer and I’m excited to read more of their books!
