I bought this book when I had heart problems and noone was able to give me practical advise as to what exactly I should do. I was very scared at the time and this book helped me a great deal. After just 3 months of sensibly following its advices my heart condition stabilised. I can’t thank Patrick Holford enough.

A thorough introduction to combatting heart disease using diet. Helpfully set out, easy to understand. Spells out what you need to do to improve your chances. Bought after spending a week in hospital with a heart problem. Haven’t had long to put it all into practice yet but am starting to make changes. I think you need one or more recipe books on allow GL cooking to make the most of it.

Good fast service, good packaging and fantastic book. This is in my opinion the best book on the subject. The author shows a broad spectrum of the knowledge on the sublect. He critically apprises validity of some accepted theories and medication and questions the validity of accepted theories on cholesterol and other alophatic dogmas.

Good presentation of medical knowledge on the subject in the context of other opposing scientific discoveries and theories in a non-dogmatic broad minded way. I learnt a lot from this and it made me more relaxed in my dieting. I also recommend this book as number one Guide to be used as a reference book in selecting supplements!

First saw this book in the library and decided to buy it. After a couple of TIAs, I wanted to stay away from statins etc. This book gives really good advice on what to control, how to interpret blood test results, and how to remedy problems such as cholesterol naturally. My blood pressure is down, and I will be interested to check my next blood test results.

This book makes sense. It is an insightful book packed full of information but is easy to follow and understand. EVERYONE who is concerned with heart disease, in it’s many disguises, and the impact is could have on your life should read it – it will change the way you think about food and improve your health immediately.

I give 10/10 for general readability and a very very decent level of scientific explanation with good supporting crosss references to research; but for a deeply in depth scientific book I found it a tiny bit imprecise (but that’s my problem !).

Anyway, all in all, I’ve given the above ‘banner title’ to fairly encapsulate my view of the book’s merit.
