From BookTok sensation Emily McIntire comes a dark and delicious fractured fairy tale in her fan-favorite Never After series.
She doesn’t belong to him…she belongs to the crown.
Prince Tristan Faasa was never destined for the throne. That was always his brother, Michael. The same brother responsible for both Tristan’s tormented childhood and the scar that mars his face. When their father dies, Michael is set to assume the throne, and Tristan is set to steal it. The leader of a secret rebellion, Tristan will stop at nothing to end his brother’s reign. But when Michael’s new betrothed, Lady Sara Beatreaux arrives, Tristan finds himself in the middle of a new kind of war. The kind that begs the question of what’s more important, the crown or the woman about to wear it.
Sara has one plan. Marry the King and eradicate the Faasa line, even at the risk of her own peril. But she never expects the Scarred Prince. He’s dangerous. Forbidden. And one of the men she’s been sent to kill. But the line between hatred and passion has never seemed so thin, and as secrets come to light, Sara grows unsure of whom she can trust-torn between vengeance and the villain she was never supposed to love.

I’ve been obsessed since the moment Tristan Faasa appeared on the pages of this book and I’m so obsessed now after finishing it, I can’t articulate my level of obsession with him.
“That’s the difference between me and other people. They run away from the bad things, and I become them.”
???? Elley Duhe – Middle of the night
Set in the fictional kingdom of Gloria Terra, Scarred is a 1910’s dark royal forbidden romance that gave me everything! With a torturous slow-burn, a thrill of passionate moments stolen in the dark, multiple levels of court scheming, and the love capable of taming the most dangerous from the pride of lions – I needn’t nothing more to fall in love with this story. But – surprise surprise – the capacity for compassion, for empathy, and for a sacrifice that came from the most ferocious villain – this had me hooked, swooning, begging for more! Buckle up to meet the Scarred Prince who won’t hesitate to rip one’s heart right open in the name of his goals, but is capable of riping his own and lying it down at the feet of many others. And, of course, he’s devastatingly hot, scarred, and broken, all the things that always, ALWAYS speak to me.
And as for the spice? Tristan is twisted, luscious in his derangement, sweetly venomous. Sara could not resist. I’m still asking myself how am I attracted to this, but I’m as helpless as Sara was and on my knees for Tristan Faasa.
“I will lick, and suck, and cut any part of you I wish, as often as I wish, until you’re begging me to slice you open and do it some more.” My stomach flips at his words, shock mixing in with the sharp rush of desire that splices down my middle. “I want to consume you, Sara, until I feel you thrumming in my veins.”

I loved this, I’ve only read the first 2 of the series and this is the better one. I believed the story and the MC love lot more than the first. I think it was the slow burn, I like all the gripe and anticipation.
Tristan is ????. I swooned over and over. Sara is believable and not too overly ‘badass’ which when overdone ruins the story for me.
I liked the story and the time period, I liked the side characters and their roles. I’m looking forward to the others.

Long live the Rebel King ????
I loved this book. It was dark and twisted and had so many different elements to it. I loved how strong and independent Sara was and how she definitely knew how to take care of herself!
This is a slow burn romance with the FMC Sara betrothed to King Michael. But when she meets Tristan, the scared prince and the kings brother, the connection is undeniable.
The more Tristan and Sara meet in the dark, the deeper they fall until they give into the sizzling chemistry. And damn Tristan is a dirty talker, and I am her for that ????.
This book was a little slow in the beginning but soon pocked up and had me absolutely hooked, and I couldn’t put it down

This is my favourite book of the year so far.
With hints of lion king woven throughout this story it follows 2 royal brothers – the good king, and the evil scarred prince, and a stubborn strong revenge driven woman hidden under the guise of a meek and obedient future bride, set on bringing down the kingdom and destorying them both. Only trouble is she’s set to marry the good king, but she falls for the evil prince, but is he really the bad guy?
Highly recommend this book, it has romance, murder, betrayal, revenge, secrets and more.

Read this after reading Hooked and I much preferred this one!
Both Tristan and Sara are kind of unhinged and I’m here for it! I do love a murderous vengeful FMC. And the fact both Sara’s and Tristan’s revenge plans messed with each other was very satisfying!
The story kept me gripped, although some of it was rather predictable, it was still a nice easy read.
Some good dark spice but it’s a bit of a slower burn than Hooked!

Ok so a bit of a slow burner but after reading the first book my Emily hooked I was tempted. A few chapters in and I’m glad I stuck at it.
A lot of jumping backwards and forwards which usually i don’t like in books especially when I don’t want to have to think too much but once you get into the main storyline and you start to understand the main characters quirks and what makes them tick the way they do then it gets good.
The main male character is called Tristan and he has a very detailed back story. Until you delve right into it and read a few chapters in it’s not exactly clear but I’m glad I stuck with it.
Again the main female character Sara I found a bit plain, boring and quite…. well nice. And nice doesn’t sit well with me usually. I like a female character with a bit of go and attitude. Gives women a stance. But again I’m glad I didn’t judge too much and stuck with it because I fell for them, both as a strong couple together and as individual roles that they played in other characters lives not just theirs….
Is it as good as the first? Well it’s hard to say because at first I would have said no but as I got maybe 5-6 chapters in I did start to enjoy them.
Hooked set a huge bench mark for this one as part of the series but yes in the end overall a good read. It may not be my immediate go to book but I wouldn’t remove it from my library list.
8/10 I think is fair
I will read the next in the series because the author has more greats than misses and again only issue I had was it was a slow burner not my usual cup of tea
