This book is great – its handbag sized and I carry it with me all the time and pull it out at all opportunities (esp when the i’m bored sentence is uttered) to test my sons spellings. I then circle the wrong ones and we keep going over them until they get them right. My sons are 5 and 10, even the 5 year old loves doing the 3 -4 letter words

Bought this for a neighbour’s daughter as she was struggling at school and my friend was unhappy with the school’s lack of solutions. Her spelling results went up considerably. So much so that the stupid teacher thought she was copying her answers from her friend.

Brought this for my 7 year old daughter as she likes me doing spelling tests. But i struggle when put under pressure to think of words which can be grouped and that are good for her age to do after working through the key stage 1 and 2 top 100 words.

The book to be honest doesn’t have a lot of pages, only 48 in total and it is the size of a small pocket notebook. It is devided up into a few pages for each age group ranging from 7 – 12 with anything from 396 words to 600 words per age group.

Its good because you can get them used to using the different spelling rules and sounds. It also helps me to identify words/sounds which need to be worked on.

It takes a couple of minutes a day to read about 10/12 words to see what she does know and practise the ones she doesn’t. I have noticed doing this her confidence has grown and skills has improved. That is something with a mother who is dislexic.

Good product if your willing to impose this on kids. Recommend as an extra help aid.

My 8 yo does love me to give her words to spell on the walk to school and inspiration for new words was hard to find so I got this. It’s only roughly the size of a passport and really easy to use, giving words to a rough guesstimate of age/ability. Home learning used to be a chore but within 6 weeks of daily 5 minute walks to school (only averaging 8-10 words) her ability has come on leaps and bounds and has had a drastic impact on her reading and writing too!!
I didn’t think something so simple could have such a significant impact!!! I’m usually quite a lazy parent too!

I ordered this book to help my son with spellings as they no longer get spelling tests at school. It is the same book as I used as a child, but more up to date. Each section is split into age groups which I found very useful. A very useful book.

This little book just has a series of lists of spellings graded in difficulty and grouped according to type eg. -ion and -ing words. It is what it is, but it was very useful to see the kind of words one is expected to spell at the 11+ level. It was an eye opener for my spellingly challenged child. Worth the little it cost.
