Cussler at his best could not put it down
by Phil
Enjoyed this very much, as usual the storyline goes along at the right speed with plenty of detail without becoming too technical. The story keeps you entertained and reading just that one more chapter before putting it down. Overall up there with the best of Clive and Grahams adventure storys.

This is now the second book by a well-known author that I have read in the past couple of months and was bored with by the halfway point. I used to like Clive Cussler for an easy reading style and with plenty of action/adventure. This book though seems to be a complete sop to the PC brigade and as such renders it completely boring. Have you noticed that in most action TV series nowadays we have to have a geeky girl who is some sort of medical/technical genius? In this story we have a disabled Indian girl who is the technical wizard so this is already starting to look like a Disney story. When it got to the part where she donned scuba gear and planted a tracking device on a submarine I could barely take any more. I also thought the plot itself was very weak, there is the best part of a whole chapter used up in trying to wangle an invite for Austin to meet the female villain when in fact that storyline falls through and he just swims into her life anyway.
I can only say I do not want to read PC tosh. I do not find it interesting at any level, I also feel that literature that tries to force PC/multicultural/multigender/multi-wotsit ideas down our throats ridiculous and childish. Authors and publishing houses should remember why we are reading books in the first place – to escape. I want to escape all this boring PC twaddle in newspapers and the media to have a good old rip-roaring adventure. And I didn’t get it in this book.

Having read a lot of Cusslers novels this one certain;y did not dissapoint and the worrying thing being that it would be so easy to see the plot and bad guys/girls actually existing in todays troubled world. I am not at the end yet but looking fowards to seeing where Mr Cussler is taking us but i do know that when i finish this one i will be searching for the next Clive Cussler book

I always enjoy Clive Cussler books and the NUMA series are some of my favourites.
Cussler weaves a good yarn – unbelievable but impossible to put down. This time NUMA has to solve an unexpected crisis for the world’s supply of oil. Excellent stuff!

I recommend this book to all Clive Cussler fans or anyone who likes stories that twist and turn with no idea what will happen or how Kurt will sort it.
