I’m feeling torn writing this review of Sea of Ruin. On the one hand I absolutely loved the book. BUT, on the other, I would have preferred the story to have not been quite so lengthy and I’m unsure of the reason why I feel this way because the story always progressed, and there were some incredible scenes and lots of excitement which had me hooked.

I can’t recall ever previously reading a pirate romance story and I’m gutted that I waited so long to read this one! I thought Pam Godwin penned a fantastic narrative with lots of twists and turns that had me desperate to see how the story would unfold. I was always surprised at how every subplot progressed and concluded – which I loved.

I cannot deny that the characters are incredible. I adore Bennett and Priest especially, but each and every one of them played an integral role in this fabulous story. The attention to detail throughout the book is second to none! I didn’t have to stretch my imagination to get a sense of what was occurring which I loved; However, this probably made those brutal and graphic scenes a little bit harder to read. I experienced lots of different emotions which always gets a huge tick from me. There is so much to this story, and I enjoyed the romance and passion just as much as I did the battles and angst.

I shy away from reading historical romance but this trope is one that I would certainly read again. I desperately want to award Sea of Ruin 5 stars and it is certainly worthy of more than 4. However, due to those niggles regarding its length, I am going to give this action-packed story 4.5 stars. I wish I could explain to you why I’m struggling to submit a 5-star rating ????‍♀️ I just can’t quite put my finger on the reasons that are stopping me from doing this. Sea of Ruin is a book that I would recommend to you to read, but please take note of the trigger warnings.

I don’t know what I was expecting but it wasn’t this, so spicy and quite kinky!!

But be warned, it was dark, gruesome with triggers that some might not like and weren’t pleasant to read.

    Se we have:

    ~ Bennett, pirates daughter,
    ~ Priest, handsome libertine,
    ~ Ashley, handsome Lord/Kings Navy.

Their stories are intertwined and basically is a story about a womans journey to get treasure with 2 blokes who are borderline obsessed with her!!!!

Ashley and Priest were cruel to Bennett in different ways but they both truly love her. I’d say Priest wasn’t convincing but Ashley was, he was my fave!

Bennett’s life is full of heartbreak but she is such a strong character, maybe what has happened to her has made her that way but she is sick of being treated poorly and used by men….but it works out for her in the end!!!

I did guess about their relationship and thought it was utterly beautiful!

Wow! What an adventure this novel has taken me on. A captivating story that was so different to anything I’ve read before. I’ve always enjoyed each book that I’ve read from Pam Godwin, but this novel was so unique. An historical tale that transported me to the stormy seas of years gone by, a time where pirates battled the ocean. It contained a strong heroine and a story that was completely unpredictable. It was also full of unexpected twists, and not forgetting an epic amount of love and heat. There’s no way I can give this book anything less than five stars.

I was torn between reading this or not. It sounded good but how many books can you read where the female main character is torn between two men. But then I do love pirate books. But reading the reviews is what convinced me in the end because everyone was saying this book was amazing and truly it was. I was voting for Bennett to choose Priest all throughout this book. Even though he had betrayed her. But I honestly didn’t see who he had betrayed her with coming. It generally did surprise me as I thought it was someone else. Very good use of misdirection by the author. Truly didn’t expect the book to go the way it did and end like that. But it was truly perfect. Not the book for everyone as there is triggers in here that could upset the snowflakes. So if you’re easily offended; don’t bother. Book has SA, r*pe, death, infertility. Just loads!

I feel like I knew I would love this book before I even read it. I mean ✨pirate smut✨ really says it all????

Honestly, I’ve you’ve read Daughter of the Pirate King and thought… this needs some spice, then this is the book for you????

The book follows Bennet Sharp, Captain, girl boss, and quite possibly one of the strongest FMCs I’ve ever read about (she’s right up there with Adeline)

The start of this book had me in tears, it was utterly heartbreaking to see what Bennett went through, and honestly she goes through so much more heartache throughout the book but she always comes out on top!! (I’m also mentioning that this book is a dark romance so definitely read TWs)

Priest and Ashley were h o t ???? I’m sorry but the Welsh accent is really getting me????????

The ending was also exactly what I wanted and needed… did I expect it..? Not entirely, but did I love it..? Absolutely.

The plot twists? The writing style? The adventures???? This was truly amazing!!

Honestly, I’d say don’t even read the blurb before going into it because i didn’t and it was a wild ride!!

This book contains some of my most hated tropes and made them SO utterly addictive that it’s made me change my outlook on my book preferences ???? I am eternally mad and I’m currently re-evaluating my life’s purpose
