Great read

Although a must for kydd fans it is rather dull and not very exciting. It continues to progress the life of the hero so necessary for fans to maintain the chain of events in britains napoleonic navy.

Not much action to much homely stuff, a lot of the Renzi plot. Not what I was expecting a bit dull with the odd excitement

Disappointing, It reads like an assembly of some very good, with the spare parts that just don’t quite fit. A cohesive, , involving, Stockwin novel it is not.
I have read all of the Kydd series and enjoyed every previous episode, but this was one I doggedly read to the end, which read as if the author had tired of his hero.

This book is a Christmas present. I have been purchasing Julian Stockwyn book for a number of years for my partner. They are a good read.

I have read all the Kydde book series and had been looking forward to the release of this book. Now having read it I have to say I was disappointed. For me it didn’t seem to flow smoothly and there was very little action to excite the imagination.

As a long term reader and follower of the Kydd series, I was a bit disappointed with this episode.
Indeed, it crossed my mind that the first half of the book could have been written by Chat GPT! The book gained a bit more momentum as I progressed but unlike the vast majority of the Kydd series, it didn’t seem to flow with the ease and credibility of the other novels. No spoilers but some of the situations could be seen from a mile off! I will eagerly look forward to the next book and hope to see a return to form for Kydd.
