AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From Tessa Bailey—#1 New York Times bestselling author, TikTok favorite, and “the Michelangelo of dirty talk” (Entertainment Weekly)—comes a spicy small town rom-com about a grumpy professor and the bubbly neighbor he clashes with at every turn…

Hallie Welch fell hard for Julian Vos at fourteen, after they almost kissed in the dark vineyards of his family’s winery. Now the prodigal hottie has returned to Napa Valley, and when Hallie is hired to revamp the gardens on the Vos estate, she wonders if she’ll finally get that smooch. But the starchy professor isn’t the teenager she remembers and their polar opposite personalities clash spectacularly.

One wine-fueled girls’ night later, Hallie can’t shake the sense that she did something reckless—and then she remembers the drunken secret admirer letter she left for Julian. Oh shit.

On sabbatical from his ivy league job, Julian plans to write a novel. But having Hallie gardening right outside his window is the ultimate distraction. She’s eccentric, chronically late, often literally covered in dirt—and so unbelievably beautiful, he can’t focus on anything else. Until he finds an anonymous letter sent by a woman from his past.

Even as Julian wonders about this admirer, he’s sucked further into Hallie’s orbit. Like the flowers she plants all over town, Hallie is a burst of color in Julian’s grayscale life. For a man who irons his socks and runs on tight schedules, her sunny chaotic energy makes zero sense. But there’s something so familiar about her… and her very presence is turning his world upside down.

“Tessa Bailey is the queen of rom-coms. Long may she reign!” — Julie Murphy, #1 New York Times bestselling author of A Merry Little Meet Cute

I didn’t think I was going to enjoy this one. I was a bit annoyed by the Female lead and the male lead wasn’t really my type. Until he 100% was!
And the bff Lavinia was brilliant, she actually made me laugh out loud a couple of times. As did Julian with his thoughts an Owen !
By the end I was absolutely in love with everyone!

Two broken souls who needed time to knit together but got there in the end. I wanted to know more about uncorked- I hope it went bump and the disco ball rolled down the street!

A fun and flirty opposites attract story.

It was okay. Took me longer than usual to get through just because I thought ???? there was no real plot, it was kinda just a girl ???? falling in love ???? with a boy ???? then boy ???? realising he loves her back… quite cliché. It was very slow and I didn’t like the miscommunication trope. I will not be reading ???? the second book ???? in this series mainly because this one was kinda crap…

I would say for Tessa Bailey this definitely counts as a slow burn, but I’m not mad about it because this story had me literally on the edge of my seat waiting for the trademark TB spice ( and it didn’t disappoint)

At the age of 29 Hallie is unfocused, unreliable and drifting through life. And when she finds out her crush of 15 years, Julian is returning to town she can’t resist trying to get closer to him.

Julien is the complete opposite to Hallie – he’s regimented, painfully organised and not a minute of his time is unscheduled but he’s drawn to the chaotic Hallie. And even though he knows they would be terrible together he can’t help but open up to Hallie in a way he hasn’t with anyone else.

Set against a backdrop of Juliens family vineyard in napa this pair have really lovely growth as they navigate their own issues with grief, anxiety, panic attacks, family drama and their own flaws.

I got so swept up in this book that I read it in a day and absolutely adored the characters – I can’t wait for Natalie & Austen’s story in June.

At this point I’m counting down days whenever Tessa Bailey announces a new book is coming, and does she ever disappoint? NO.
I’m convinced she writes the best book boyfriends in history. Likeable characters with a cute, spicy plot? I’m in.
    As usual, loved it.

I really enjoy Tessa Bailey’s writing, its easy to read and a joy to devour!
Tessa has a knack for adding depth to her characters that make them seem more human and while slightly imperfect still completely loveable.

On paper Hallie and Julian really seem like they shouldn’t work, they couldn’t be more opposite but their journey to finding love had me laughing out loud at times and unable to put the book down. Particularly a certain Cheese stealing scene ????????

I would 10/10 recommend this book to anyone who wants a easy read for the summer and is looking for a romance.

A solid 4 stars, with delicious smut and fun banter.
I’m just a bit tired of virginal MFC. And love stories that practically conclude overnight. But still enjoyed it a whole lot!
Onward to book 2 now ????
