She’s a good girl raised in purity culture. He’s the campus bad boy. When he uses her to get revenge, stealing her virginity, she steals his heart instead.

Beautiful and prim Vanessa is the perfect pawn in Carter’s revenge scheme. Who better to humiliate his wealthy religious family than the girl who just announced on social media that she’s planning to lose her virginity in thirty days?

Their arrangement will just be an exchange of services. He’ll let her tell the world the campus player took her virginity, and she’ll give him the opportunity he’s been waiting years for.

But after one taste of her, he wants so much more than petty revenge…

He wants her body as well as her heart.

He wants everything.

    I’m really torn about this book. I quite enjoyed the first one but this one seems… unnecessary. It’s essentially a very very similar storyline however with much more annoying characters! Vanessa just says the same thing over and over again chapter after chapter. Carter’s not much better and you barely get anything from the supporting characters. It was a fight to get through the last third of this book. Perhaps I’m the wrong audience (although I was very much brought up on a strict Christian household) but there’s only so many times I can read the words ‘body shame’ in one sentence before wanting to gouge my eyes! Anyway, not my favourite. Probably won’t do the third.

    TW – sexual content and religious trauma

    So I wouldn’t exactly call this enemies to lovers but more opposites attract.

    I don’t tend to read much with religious themes but since this one Was based around Vanessa Gallo trying to rid herself of sexual shame when growing up in a purity group at church, I made the exception.

    This was a college romance theme and quite Gen Z I’d say with the writing. Lots of TikTok talk involved. Carter is the campus player and has his own personal issues he’s trying to work through.

    So when Vanessa Gallo shares with her hundreds of thousand followers she’s setting a deadline to lose her virginity, you can imagine the rollercoaster there.

    This book did include a lot of sexual content but also in a way of learning and being open to understand, which I always encourage if people wish to feel safe and comfortable in making such choices.

    The book was decent, lots of cute moments, great friendships and relationships and a lot of looking inwards which is nice.

    It wasn’t life changing but it was a quick read getting through it in less than 24 hours.

    Read this from recommendation on FB grovel group. I really enjoyed it as I’m from the UK I know nothing about this purity culture and found it fascinating.
    Favourite tropes:
    *College age
    *JP OTT Hero in denial about feelings
    * strong clever heroine
    * Laugh out loud moments
    Definitely recommend.

    After reading the first book Purity i was definitely intrigued by Livvy’s sister Vanessa, they both got brought up with the strict purity culture where as Livvy kind of had her mind made up and she was mentally ready to make the changes in her life but Vanessa knows what she wants and she really does but she has alot of issues with her feelings holding her back.
    I will admit she’s not dumb, she’s very perceptive, she knows about what the guys are doing so i loved that. It’s not the whole miss innocent doesn’t understand these guys are doing it so they can be the one to claim the v card.
    Overall i enjoyed this! Carter did bug me a little at first but the more i read of him the more i liked him!

    This was a new author to me and I received this as an Arc. I went in blind (as I do with most books) The one line on the cover drew me in. ‘Shes a sinner and im going to prove it’.

    This story follows Vanessa, that grew up in a purity culture. This is the second book in the series and I havent read the first so would def say this can be read as a standalone. She wants rid of her virgin!ty and isnt aftaid to admit it. She has a huge following on tiktok and announces that she has a deadline to ‘do it’. Vanessa was a strong fmc, always spoke her mind. She was realistic, honest. She understood body language and how othters worked and their intentions.
    Carter. The campus bad boy. That has A LOT of experience in the bedroom. He had a past that he didnt share easily. He was kinda what made this a slow burn for me. He has the biggest heart. Regardless of his reputation says. He is the definition of a golden retriever.
    He falls first and hard. He watched her online and admired her from afar but when he actually meets her. Its as if the earth shifts. He has these feelings from nowhere that he doesn’t recognise and doesn’t know how to deal with them.

    We get lots of ‘youre mine’, desire, cravings, lust.. the chemistry was ???????? were also given a lot of praise kink and a little daddy too ????
    The character development throughout this was amazing to read. Both separately and together. They heal each other. They were so good together.

    I did think this was going to be darker than it was. Im not disappointed though because it opened my eyes a lot. I wasnt aware of any kind of purity culture – obv I know about saving yourself but this dives deeper into this. And the emotions it causes both towards others and themselves. At times I forgot about their age, but honestly some parts it was very obvious. I enjoyed it, quite a bit and would def look at other books by Skylar Mason.

    This is the second book in this series, and this is Carter and Vanessa’s story. Carter is the campus bad boy who is fuelled by vengeance, and Vanessa is a good girl, who is a pawn in his game. These two are complete opposites, but they complement each other perfectly. This is a well written emotional roller coaster story, which has family, friendships, revenge, trauma, tension, intrigue, truths, romance, and is a steamy page turner.
    I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
