Shifting Sands: Emotional, engaging, and ultimately uplifting! With a focus on friendship, family & facing up to change – is this really the end of the … Julie? (Coming Back…
£2.99
When a friend’s parent dies, and with her own parents experiencing health issues, Alice is beginning to understand the meaning of the term ‘sandwich generation’, and even more so when one of her children becomes ill. With a business to manage, and rapidly increasing bills, the last thing she needs is her best friend and business partner Julie throwing a spanner in the works. When Lydia’s relationship with the famous actor Si Davey comes under strain, Alice is glad for the chance to help her, and focus on somebody else’s problems for once.
Nevertheless, suffering from sleep deprivation and stress, Alice finds herself challenging other relationships in her life, looking for somebody to provide the answers and support that she needs. Does she have the strength and resilience to find her way through these troubling times? And is it possible to salvage her friendship with Julie before it’s too late?
Shifting Sands is the final book of the Coming Back to Cornwall series, and a chance to see how far life has come for Alice, Julie and the important people in their lives. It is also a reminder that there is no such thing as a happy ending – merely happy moments, which inevitably will be followed by other moments: happy, sad, stressful, relaxing… life goes on, and the sands never stop shifting beneath our feet.

Brought all her stories to a very good conclusion. Will there be another book? Who knows.

As always a book you can’t put down. 6ou feel for the characters too and all they are going through. I read in tears at times, but it is good to to hold on to the positives in all the changes and traumas. Thank you Katharine for your beautiful writing.

I’ve loved this series and have just finished shifting sands.I also have shared a life of someone with type one diabetes, and indeed it consumes a large part of you,,however I think you have played a huge part in highlighting juvenile diabetes.I shall look forward to reading a new series of characters, though I will undoubtedly miss these people.I live in neighbouring Gayle,so also love St.Ives.

Loved all the books to this series

I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole series and this book, which is book 10 of the series, and is one of my favourites. With the twists and turns, friends overcoming problems, and families coming together, and learning to adapt under the pressure of unwelcome situations. Well done once again Kath………there’s certainly an opening for a book 11 (????????)

Is this the end? it might be it might not, but whatever happens a brilliant book keeping me on the edge of my seat until the very last page.

The main focus in first half was daughter diagnosed with diabetes and quite detailed of problems and treatment. Being a long term cancer patient all the talk of needles hospitals etc put me off. I have enough reality and need distraction with other topics.
Well written but not for me.
