Whatever happens this Christmas, they didn’t forecast this!
When charismatic and handsome weather presenter Marcus Bowman walks back into Willow Roxburgh’s life three weeks before Christmas, her quiet job as an admin worker at the Old Schoolhouse residential care centre in Glenbriar is shattered. He’s not only the man she used to crush on, he’s also the one who thwarted her TV forecasting dreams.
But she’s no longer the anonymous studio assistant; she’s secretly Scotland’s new favourite weather forecaster, Rocky Rainman.
With the Schoolhouse facing closure, Marcus is on an assignment to drum up festive support. However, he’s discovered the internet sensation Rocky Rainman lives somewhere nearby and is determined to expose him after Rocky’s recent damaging comments on social media. Seeing Willow, the girl he used to obsess over, shakes his priorities.
When a blizzard hits, Willow and Marcus are snowed in, and she discovers her perception of him wasn’t as accurate as her forecasts. Marcus isn’t convinced it’ll be a white Christmas, but he’s determined to win Willow’s heart. Can their new love weather storm if he discovers her secret? Because how can there be a future for Marcus Bowman and Rocky Rainman?

This is quite a fun read with a distinctive central character. Willow has her own reasoms for wanting to be off camera but her talent and determination to be a successful weather forecaster are palin to see. With a big secret to hide, she finds herself in some tricky situations once Marcus has arrived in the Highlands. Marcus too is not how he appears to the public and he has kept a few secrets of his own out of the public view. Secrecy has become second nature to him and he jas definite trust issues. However, the chemistry between Marcus and Willow is pretty clear.
This story has quite a lot to say about following your dreams and facing up to what you actually want to do. Several stereotypes are dismantled and the message clearly is to look beneath the surface. As ever, the setting around Glenbriar lends itself to this expending series of stories and I am looking forward to number 7.
Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the book

Another fantastic story from Margaret Amatt! This book is beautifully layered with humour and heartfelt moments that had me turning page after page until I devoured the whole thing!
Willow is a character you can’t help but root for, and Marcus is a grumpy Henry Caville look alike! Need I say more?
A fabulous story with all the festive feels!
Go read it!

Willow’s sunny, Marcus is stormy, and they’re about to be snowed in together!
Snowdown at the Old Schoolhouse is another fabulous romance from go-to author, Margaret Amatt.
It’s a sweet and swoony Christmas gift of a book that I devoured in one sitting faster than a family-sized tub of Celebrations…

I am a huge fan of Margaret and her work. i especially love the ‘Glenbriar’ series. I read and thoroughly enjoyed the first five books in the series and I have been impatiently waiting for the sixth book in the series. Well ladies and gents the wait is over because the sixth book in the ‘Glenbriar’ series is called ‘Snowdown At The Old Schoolhouse’ and it was released on 18th November 2023. It’s a superb addition to a superb series. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Snowdown At The Old Schoolhouse’ but more about that in a bit.
I absolutely loved the character of Willow Roxburgh. I warmed to her from the start and she ended up feeling more like a friend than a character in a book. In a way, WIllow reminded me of my goddaughter. Willow has Cerebral Palsy. She doesn’t let her disability hold her back and she strives to make her own way in life. Just like my goddaughter. I think Willow is very self conscious and lacking in self confidence, which is understandable. Willow has a job in the media but due to a misunderstanding she leaves that job and ends up working for an organisation which helps the disabled. I kept everything crossed that she would find the ‘happy ever after’ ending that she so deserved. What happens? Well for the answers to that question and so much more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you.
As soon as I started reading ‘Snowdown At The Old Schoolhouse’, I realised that I was reading something special and that I would struggle to put the book down for any length of time. I was spot on in both predictions. My Kindle wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I couldn’t bear to miss a single second of the story. Part of the reason why I enjoyed the story so much has to do with the fact that I loved the character of Willow. I had to keep reading to see how the story panned out for her. I became so wrapped up in the story and in the lives of the different characters that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the book. All too quickly I reached the end of ‘Snowdown At The Old Schoolhouse’ and I had to say goodbye to Willow. I found ‘Snowdown At The Old Schoolhouse’ to be a fun, light hearted and ultimately uplifting story with lots of humour, sparkles and a generous helping of romance. ‘Snowdown At The Old Schoolhouse’ is certainly a festive treat.
‘Snowdown At The Old Schoolhouse’ is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Margaret Amatt. Margaret has an easy going writing style that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading one of her books often feels more like a chat between friends rather than reading a book. Margaret clearly cares about her characters and this shines through in the very vivid and realistic way in which she describes them. She makes her characters seem just as real as you and I. I love the fact that Margaret writes about those with disabilities and shows all the positive things that can be achieved even if there are little obstacles along the way. Margaret treats the subject with compassion and sensitivity. I love the way in which Margaret makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action. That’s how I felt anyway.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Snowdown At The Old Schoolhouse’ and I wholeheartedly recommend this book to other readers. For me, ‘Snowdown At The Old Schoolhouse’ is the best of the series so far. I hope to read much more of Margaret’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.
