The content is ok but this is just a print out of the ebook version. Some of the print is miniscule – obviously no one bothered to check.

I was very, very impressed with this book. I found it made bookkeeping easy to learn, and would highly recommend it to any other self-employed Sole Trader working from home, who wants to save money by doing their own bookkeeping and UK tax return.
There is also a download link for a complete set of training materials that goes with the book.
The system you learn is very simple since it uses single entry cash basis accounting and the latest set of UK HMRC ‘Simplified Expenses’ tax rules which all reduce the burden of bookkeeping to a minimum.
There is a special section with advice on how best to treat PayPal and eBay fees with some money saving tips.
Additionally, the book prepares you for the new UK HMRC ‘Making Tax Digital’ era that starts soon. Where traders who sell over £200 a week of goods or services will all have to send in income and expenses information every 12 weeks to the taxman and use a Cloud based bookkeeping system.

Not the most exciting part of setting up a business, but certainly the most important. I’ve just started reading this book and preparing all my paperwork to action it, and so far, it seems extremely good advice and value for money. There are Dropbox files ready to show you what you need to know and even an excel sheet prepped ready for you to steam into…with guidance. Robert Redfern appears very knowledgeable in this field. However, I know so little, even my dog is an expert as far as I’m concerned. Anyway, I plan to fully immerse myself over the next few days to fully understand and get my accounts in order before the business rockets! (watch this space!!!). A much more affordable way of getting the training you need without handing all your information over to strangers and trusting them on a wing and a prayer!

This book takes you through single-entry bookkeeping principles and is based around a hypothetical eBay seller listing shoes for sale on eBay. The principles are easy to follow but may not always fit your situation. As a sole trader who doesn’t sell on eBay (for business – I do personally), all the eBay and Paypal stuff was irrelevant to my business but may not be to you. In fact, I’ve yet to find another book even referencing such things so it may be suitable for your needs. I’d have found this book far more appealing had there been an index at the back, which is pretty standard on a modern book. Worse, there are no page numbers, yet there is a contents page referencing these. Thus, you have no hope of finding anything by reference. In addition, the print quality of the book is appalling: It says on the back “Printed by Amazon Fulfilment”. It certainly looks like it’s been printed by someone on their home printer. Can’t say I’d recommend it really but as I say given some better referencing it would be OK for an intro.
