This is an excellent, informative, well-researched and practical guide to managing special educational needs in the early years.

Different types of SEND are explained in a very clear and accessible way, and there are useful links to signpost towards further reading.

This book would be invaluable for SENCOs new to the role, or as a guide for more experienced practitioners. Although aimed at early years providers, it also be very useful for parents & caters who wish to understand more about the process of EHCP applications.

The process of applying for an EHCP, which can often be such a minefield, is very clearly explained, step by step.

The final chapter contains useful resources for practitioners such as transition documents, sample provision maps and a parent questionnaire.

This book is very well written and contains the most up-to-date information on SEND legislation and guidance to follow. I highly recommend this book.

Every child deserves as much guidance and support as we can provide for them to shine their potentials. Two years ago we moved to England as my daughter who was diagnosed with ADHD and ASD was not well supported by her previous school. We were very new to the UK education system and did not know what kind of support or benefits available to us or even what rights we have for our daughter’s education. Thanks so much to Claudia who guided me through step by step what support and benefit available to us and how to proceed to obtain them. I loved reading this book, as I know the authors poured their hearts into writing this book to help schools, practitioners, parents to find their ways to support the children with SEND. This book is easy to read, well organized and very informative. Many educational staff, especially SENDCOs, and parents can benefit from the content of this book. Highly recommending this book to all schools, practitioners, and parents who are searching their ways to support the children in special needs so they get the maximum guidance to help them become independent, positive and strong adults in the future.
