A perfect coffee table book for any Star Wars fan.
Great pick up and read book.
by Konrad Fit
The book is very well written and has highly detailed “illustrations” (3D renders) for each lightsaber. The book starts with a few introductory pages explaining the history and concept of the lightsaber. The rest of the book is divided into three sections: Jedi of the Galactic Republic (lightsabers owned by Jedi); Acolytes of the Dark Side (lightsabers owned by Sith and other darksiders); and a New Jedi Tradition (lightsabers owned by Jedi in the sequels and Star Wars Rebels).
Each double page contains a short paragraph describing the lightsaber and its owner, a graphic showing the lightsaber hilt, and a graphic showing the ignited lightsaber. Some of the lightsabers have a fold-out page to show the full length of the ignited saber, or to show variants of the hilt. The book ends in a six-page index showing each ignited lightsaber in alphabetical order (separated by dark/light side).
Overall the book is well-detailed with accurate lore and extremely well-detailed models of each lightsaber. Around 60 lightsabers are showcased. The only problem is that just touching the black pages leaves obtrusive fingerprints/marks that cannot be removed. This is a large oversight by the publishers, as the solid pages should be varnished to prevent this. If you can ignore these fingerprints, then the book is completely enjoyable.

She disappointed me a little because she has a minimum of information. Good for someone who doesn’t know the universe well

Nicely presented and illustrated, this compact coffee table book provides a solid overview of the lightsaber, it’s many styles and those who wield them. The computer rendered illustrations of the different sabers show the variety and individual nature of the different hilts and these are nicely complemented by character portraits that feature great likenesses of the specfic blade owner. As other reviewers have commented, the black pages do mark up with fingerprints very easily, but I assume this choice was made so that the blade colours of the various lightsabers are more vibrant and defined. The only real issue with the book I have is it’s price. I picked it up sold by Amazon for £11, which is more than fair for what you get. However, the rrp of £25 is far too steep when you can pick up movie art books that are twice the size in terms of pages and dimensions for the same price. If you can pick it up at the right price, this book is a worthy addition to any fan’s Star Wars library.

I absolutely loved this book, a great guide to the many different Lightsabers used by the many different characters in the Star Wars universe. Some fanatic pictures too.
Highly recommended for the general star wars fan or lightsaber enthusiast.

This is a very fascinating, well-presented 154 page hard cover book. Our young padawan spotted the book in a bookstore and put it on his birthday list. It contains excellent depictions of a vast range of lightsabers – from the well-known heroes and villains but also from more obscure characters from the comics and games. It even depicts and describes a lightsaber from the New Republic. Each lightsaber comes accompanied by a little text.
The problem is that is suggests to be the ‘definitive’ book on lightsabers. Well, there is very little definitive about Star Wars these these day – always in motion the future is! I can guarantee you that in the huge and still expanding Star Wars universe more lightsabers have been wielded than described in this book. And the problem with all the new material coming out (TV series like the Mandalorian, Obi Wan, Ahsoka, at least one new movie and video games in production) the book will miss some lightsabers of new main characters soon. Just think about the many new Jedi introduced in the New Republic material.
Nevertheless this is a very nice to have book, at a reasonable price (£15). It is a great source of reference for all Star Wars fans and makes a perfect, geeky coffee table book, in particular if you are an avid lightsaber collector such as general Grievous, who sadly passed away much too soon.
The final lightsaber duel between Anakin and Count Dooku was the best duel – Hands down 🙂 Oh, and lastly I just wanted to ask you, since this is not in the book: where did Kylo Ren get his light saber? – At the Darth Mall!
