This is a very good read full of clear, rational thought that eviscerates a lot of the fatuous nonsense that we are all exposed to in these times – especially from politicians.

Simplifies astrophysics into a readable format. Very interesting!

I really liked reading this book. I found it enlightening and very informative. The last few paragraphs of the book ,centred on life and death, I found really moving. It has compelled me to thank the Lord for my birth and existence and to cherish every day I’m on this earth. Brilliant book. I highly recommend it.

This is a timely call for a recalibration of our collective perception.

The author makes a compelling argument that whilst human linear thinking has served us well in evolutionary survival terms it has proven damaging with respect to our ability to predict the future and assess the influence of humankind on climate.

A better understanding of exponential thinking and predictive probability are forwarded as remedies to this short sightedness. An ability to view phenomena more in terms of a continuum rather than being polar is also at the heart of this resetting of our perceptions. The danger of creating artificial boundaries within natural phenomena such as storms, intelligence and gender is cited as an oversimplification of reality, creating prejudice and none scientific understanding.

This is a celebration of objective truth and the scientific method. Whilst billions are spent on war to avenge 3000 deaths little is spent or done to remedy 35000 annual deaths in the US in road traffic accidents. Contradictions in beliefs about the sanctity of life, anti abortion protesters and capital punishment are tellingly discussed as examples of the need to recalibrate our thinking.

This is a highly readable and eclectic polemic embracing: science, religion, philosophy and politics.

It is sometimes blissful to read an author whose insights and opinions are congruent with one’s own and, when that author is as enthusiastic and witty as N deG T, then that pleasure is doubly enhanced.
There are a couple of minor errors of fact that nevertheless do not impact the thrust of his expositions and propositions, so can be ignored.
Despite my implication that his ideas match my own, which is true, the supporting arguments he offers were a joy to learn.
A deeply thought and simply expressed book, making it a swift, gratifying and most enjoyable read.

I excepted way more from him. This was so boring I had to give up around page 20.

I got this book as a present for my husband and ended up reading it too. A real thought provoking read and a much needed fresh perspective on us humans and our planet.
