Written by an ex-UK gambler I found many parallels with my own checkered gambling history. Although the book is under 90 pages the author uses his words concisely and doesn’t waffle or get too bogged down on any particular experience. The chapters are short and to the point. The length means it is also a book that can be read and digested in a single sitting.
The first part of the book deals with the authors first experiences of gambling in Essex, UK and how it escalated to being consuming and out of control, something that will be familiar to any problem gambler. The second part has a real strategy that the reader can follow to help break addiction with some positive reinforcement.
I enjoyed the book immensely and have started using the strategy.
The only downside to the strategy and content of the book is that it mentions an app that can be downloaded to your phone to help block gambling sites which the author has developed plus an email address/website for help, but at the time I purchased the book (January 2021) neither the app or website were available and it looks like this help has shutdown. However all is not lost, the strategy has good tips for the reader to follow and if online social help is required Reddit has a great group called problemgambling for additional support beyond immediate friends and family.
A well written easy to digest book with some real practical help.
