Strictly Business: A CEO ASSOCIATE OFFICE ROMANCE
£3.30
I don’t like mixing business with pleasure or business with anything, but it was hard to say no to a request from an old friend to give his niece an apprenticeship at my firm, especially when I couldn’t fault her qualifications, Harvard, no less!
I vaguely remember the girl from years ago; polite, ugly glasses, chubby, and a riot of unruly curls. Not my type at all. What could it hurt, really?
I agreed to take her on, on the condition she gets no special treatment, and she’s out on her ear if she proves to be less than exemplary. I was not in the business of babysitting.
He readily accepted my terms and it seemed like a good idea. Win, win for all concerned! So why not?
Until she walks into my office Monday morning.
Whoa! Back up, back up, Wyatt McAvoy.
Ugly glasses – untick that.
Unruly curls – they had been tamed into seriously gorgeous silken locks.
Chubby – definitely untick that. Her body was a blessing, Heck, the woman had hips and curves a man could put on an altar and worship.
Polite – hmm… there’s a knowing dangerous glint in those green eyes now.
Okay, her appearance was a wrench in the works, but I was not changing my mind or plan.
It was going to be strictly business between the two of us. And I meant that. Strictly business.
No matter how hot things got…

Wyatt remembers Serena as a nice and polite chubby girl with glasses, but now she is a stunning and intelligent woman. He agreed to employ her as she is his best friend’s niece which isn’t an issue with his memory of her. How things change.
Serena has lusted after Wyatt since forever, so is thrilled when she gets to work with him.
Of course the chemistry is sizzling hot and difficult to ignore, as we expect no less from Iona. But things don’t go smoothly despite their mutual desire for each other.
This is a great read and thoroughly recommended.

I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers romance. It is one of my favourite tropes and I just couldn’t put it down.

I liked the way that businessman, Wyatt fights his attraction to curvy intern (& best friend’s niece) Serena. He has, however, not taken into account Serena’s determination to act on her long-standing crush on this gorgeous older man. There are some good scenes, especially when Serena ‘takes control’ and seduces reluctant Wyatt! Throw in Wyatt’s bitchy assistant and you have the makings of an engaging age-gap/business romance. My only hesitation in giving five starts was I felt that Serena’s character was a bit inconsistent – mature and sassy in some sections but a bit childish in others. A reasonable steamy read, with the obligatory HEA but I did feel it isn’t one of Iona Rose’s best.

When Wyatt agrees to take on his best friends niece, he remembers her as a nice polte girl, maybe on the chubby side with glasses. What he doesn’t expect is the vision that walks into his office. Curves in all the right places and intelligence to go with it. For Serena, it was a dream come true to be this close to Wyatt, seeing as she had fancied him since childhood. As they continue to work together, a spark ignites which is hard to ignore. As they give into their desires, someone is working hard to sabotage their romance. A great little story with plenty of hot scenes between the pair. A recommended read.
