‘People talk about football managers being under pressure. Trust me, that’s nothing. Pressure is watching one of your drivers hit a barrier at 190mph and exploding before your eyes…’
Guenther Steiner is one of motor racing’s biggest and most celebrated characters, known to millions for his show-stealing appearances on Netflix’s hugely popular fly on the wall series, Drive to Survive.
In Surviving to Drive, the Haas team principal takes readers inside his Formula 1 team for the entirety of the 2022 season, giving an unobstructed view of what really takes place behind the scenes. Through this unique lens, Guenther takes us on the thrilling rollercoaster of life at the heart of high stakes motor racing.
Packed full of twists and turns, from hiring and firing drivers, balancing books, pre-season preparations, the design, launch and testing of a car – and of course, the race calendar itself – this is the first time that an F1 team has allowed an acting team principal to tell the full story of a whole season.
Uncompromising and searingly honest, told in Steiner’s inimitable style, this is a fascinating and hugely entertaining account of the realities of running a Formula 1 team.

Great book and arrived in perfect condition.

If you follow Formula 1, and particularly Guenther Steiner, you’ll probably know what to expect from this book.
Its very typical Guenther, you can almost hear hus voice when you read it. Lots of swearing and funny anecdotes from his time in
F1, but also his story of how he came to be in F1, and how the Haas team came into being.
A must read for anyone interested in a very candid view of F1 behind the scenes.

A book done almost like a diary, so easy to pick up and put down. Very funny and an insight into the behind the scenes of F1. The people never rest. As Frank Williams once said “ between 2 and 4 on a Sunday it’s a sport. The rest of the time, it’s a Buisness. This drives that point home

Wow. What a book. I am an F1 fan and I really enjoyed the book. Well done Steiner! It provides insight about the season of a team (well, mid table team) and also it tells more about Guenther’s past motorsports experience, which is massive. Yeah, Drive to Survive put him in front of people but his story reminded me that every team principle, technical director, all top dogs in the teams have an incredible backgrounds and all are there on merit.

If you’re a Formula One fan (and haven’t already read it – why not!?), I can thoroughly recommend this book by Haas Team Principle Guenther Steiner. It follows the highs and lows of the team as they contend the 2022 season. Be aware, there’s a lot of swearing resulting from bad luck, no luck, opening the season with a driver and principle sponsor from a country “beginning with R” that invaded another country, and from multiple tangles with the inconsistent FIA.
It really is a gem of a read..

Gunther is such an interesting character who speaks his mind. A great gift for any F1 fan out there.

If you love Gunther on race weekends or Drive To Survive . You will not be disappointed. It is written how he speaks and is humorous , laugh out loud even. Great insight into how the F1 season is played out on the inside and what it is like to be in this environment. Honest , thought provoking and a joy to read.
