I recently gave my dad an old Mac Mini of mine to replace his aging and temperamental windows PC, which he only really used for a web browsing, email and the occasional document. I felt some guide for switchers would be what he needed, and this one seemed to cover the ground nicely and in a non threatening way. He was able to make sense of it and switching turned out to be a remarkably easy and painless experience – thanks in part to this book.
I object a little to the title though. Anyone switching to a Mac is clearly not a dummy.

It doesn’t matter which magazines you buy that are for Apple computers, the brainwashing starts straight away, such is Apple’s marketing skill.
So when I was considering buying an Apple laptop, I wanted to find something ‘independent’ and the Dummies guide appealed.
The advice inside was clear, and they are impartial. It pointed out a few downsides to Apple computers, but there certainly aren’t many of those. To coin a phrase, a liked the book so much I went out and bought the computer. Occasionally I dip back into it just to clarify a few points, but in my expereince Apple computers do just work. It appears the marketing isn’t all brainwashing. It’s true.
This is a useful book at allaying your fears if you’re fed up with Microsoft and are considering switching to Macs.

I am hopeless with technology. This has useful information and I am working my way through it, some of the info is rather technical but skipp-able; what I need seems to be there and do-able.
