When launching the Talk Art podcast in 2018, actor Russell Tovey and gallerist Robert Diament had one clear aim: to make the art world more accessible. Since then, the podcast has grown to be a global hit, featuring exclusive interviews with leading artists, curators, gallerists, actors, musicians and fellow art lovers such as Lena Dunham, Sir Paul Smith, David Shrigley, Noel Fielding, Edward Enninful, Rose Wylie and Sir Elton John.
Talk Art, the book, is a beautiful and accessible celebration of contemporary art, and a guidebook to navigating and engaging with the art world. Covering a range of different media from photography and ceramics to performance and sound art, the book explores the way art interacts with our society, highlights lesser-known artists, and provides a snapshot of the art world as it is today.
With a wealth of imagery – some never before seen in print and some created exclusively for the book – and an informative, engaging narrative, Talk Art will become the must-have book art lovers return to again and again.
The book features highlights from interviews with: Tracey Emin, Jordan Casteel, Jerry Saltz, Elton John, Grayson Perry, Ian McKellen, Alasdair McLellan, Helen Cammock, Somaya Critchlow and many more.

This is a cracking introduction to the world of art appreciation. It’s an easy read without talking down to the reader. It makes accessing the sometimes scary world of art collecting easy. Russell and Robert write in an engaging way about the art they are passionate about. Each chapter is themed rather than focussed on an individual artist, and they explore movements in the contemporary art scene, which I don’t know very much about. I learned a lot without it feeling onerous. The book is well illustrated in colour, which is really important in an art book. They have commissioned new and up and coming artists to make works specifically for the book as well as highlighting many other artist’s work. They don’t confine themselves to traditional art forms either. They explore sound art and digital works and work in performance. There’s a great how to get into art chapter at the back. This was excellent. It works really well as a companion piece to their brilliant podcast of the same name. I hope they write more.

I am enjoying this read already. Very informative and interesting. I have dropped 2 stars due to it being received with a damaged dust cover from being poorly packed.

Perfect book, great quality.
Though I was going to be disappointed by no hard back option, but the cover is very hardy.

Easily a 5 star book but unfortunately it arrived in poor condition, with the outer cover creases and ripped. It’s such a shame as it’s a beautiful & interesting book!
