Maybe I’m just pretty easily satisfied, but this was another 5 star read for me. I’ve been eyeing it on my shelf since I bought it a couple weeks ago, and so today while continuing to drag myself through The Devil’s Thief I eventually gave up in favour of reading this instead.
Previously my main point of reference for these characters probably would have been from Titans and while I liked Raven in that, she definitely wasn’t my favourite character (that place was reserved for Gar and only Gar), so reading this I was surprised by how much more I liked her.
I also got myself a phat crush on Max.
I loved the art style a lot, and the colours, I’ve decided that Gabriel Picolo is now one of my favourite illustrators and I absolutely cannot wait to get Beast Boy in 2020.

Got to say this was better that I though it would be. I am not a bit Teen Titsns fan but Raven has always been my favourite along with Robin/Nightwing (not Damian).

I think the Teen dram and emotions work well for her finding out about her destiny. I also like that both sides of her family are brought into the story.

A good book and especially for fans of Raven. The artwork fits the book perfectly, even adding colours at exactly the right times. This is more the beginning of Raven’s journey than anything else.

I am long time fan of the teen titans and this comic book was a fantastic spin on the original comics with the modern world and problems of a teenager. There’s lots of subtle hints to the original teen titans comics which is pretty cool. It’s not the most advanced book in the world but it’s good for teens and long time fans 🙂

SO GOOD. Loved the art and the storyline. Absolutely adored Max!! Definitely my fave character aside from Raven. So much great representation in this too!! It had Black, Disability (wheelchair, crutches), Muslim – Hijabi, Asian, POC, & WLW representation.

TW/CW – Car crash (graphic); Death of a parent (graphic); Adoption; Foster care; Bullying (detailed); Suicide ideation (brief mention); Parental abuse (past); Kidnapping (mentioned); Sex trafficking (mentioned); Abandonment

Raven was my favourite titan from the Teen Titans cartoon and this was my first comic so I just to buy this. Although to some this comic could be uneventful, I know this was just an introduction to Raven as a character. I enjoyed the characters that were introduced and would love to see some side characters come back in future works such as Max(obviously) and Thomas. One critique I have is just at some points it gets a little cringey but that’s to be expected for a book about teens. I love love love Gabriel’s art work and I just know Beast Boy is going to be great! Can’t wait for all of the Titans to be introduced and for them to go on adventures together!! I really enjoyed this graphic novel. I have been a big fan of the Teen Titans for a good few years now, and particularly a fan of Raven, I like the character archetype and the obvious parallels to being an outsider and feeling alienated as a teenager, and this book really leans into that for the younger reader. The art is beautiful, and for me really complements and captures a lot of the angst.
I recognise that some people will not be a fan of the nature of the character, or the way it is written, as this is an attempt to appeal to a young adult audience, but without spoilers I will say that I found it engaging, emotional and easy to read.
