The 6:20 Man: The Number One Bestselling Richard and Judy Book Club Pick (Travis Devine 1)
£2.80
A bestselling Richard & Judy Book Club pick, The 6:20 Man is a heart-racing thriller with an incredible ending, set in the world of high finance in New York, from the number one bestselling author David Baldacci.
It’s time to catch a killer . . .
Having survived combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq and been decorated with medals, Travis Devine leaves the army in mysterious circumstances, under a cloud of suspicion. And at thirty-two years old, he’s swapping fighting the Taliban and Al-Qaeda for a different kind of danger in the cut-throat world of high finance.
His daily commute on the 6:20 a.m. train into New York’s financial district, to his new job as an analyst at the powerhouse investment bank Cowl and Comely, takes him into a world where greed, power, jealousy and ambition result in the financial abuse of the masses and the enrichment of an elite few.
When a close friend of Devine’s is found dead, the mysterious circumstances surrounding her death at Cowl and Comely compel him to investigate further. As he digs deeper, he discovers strange coincidences and unnerving truths. As the deaths pile up, and the major players show their hands, he must question who he can trust – and who he must fight.

It’s a while since I have read a book written by one of my favourite authors. It took me several chapters to get into the story and it dragged in places, but overall a good read. I was a little dubious about the name of the hero, Travis Devine?

First time for a DB novel and it will not be my last. Who cares that it was a barely plausible tale, when the action moves so swiftly along? Numerous possible suspects, many murders and the hero survives almost unscathed. Good value from an Amazon Ebook.

Baldacci does it again. Great characters, complex convoluted story, unexpected ending. All cleverly woven together to keep you enthralled to the last page.

Kept my interest throughout the book. An excellent story containing characters that I want to read about in another book.

It was a page turner but ultimately a bit of an incredible outcome

What a thriller! We instantly like our hero, Travis Devine, as do a number of the female characters. It is very difficult to decide which side people are on, however, and we are kept wondering right to the end of the book. Of course we are finally shown how the story fits together and I breathed a satisfied sigh and thought, ‘What else has David Baldacci written? I might just try another one?’

Half way through this book I thought I had found the culprit – only for Mr Baldacci to add a further twist. In fact, this book has more twists that Chubby Checker. Sorry I’ll get my coat!
Once i understood the phone cloning, security cards to get in to work and Area 51 I was hooked with this new slightly flawed character Travis Devine. Most of the book rolled along at pace but with a plot and ending that seemed incredulous.
Immensely readable and enjoyable, dare I say typical Davis Baldacci.
