Interesting and useful reference work, good to dip into and give you a broad outline, timeline, sense of artistic periods. But only two chapters on women artists, right at the end? Surprising given that three of the five contributors are women. It would be good for children to learn in detail about Artemesia Gentileschi, Berthe Morisot, Barbara Hepworth, Cindy Sherman…

Very pleased with the book and its layout, quite informative. Also, prompt and efficient delivery.

The whole range of DK books is beautifully prepared. This is no exception to that statement. My granddaughter had asked for a number or artistic materials etc for her Christmas. This book was an additional item. It arrived promptly and the Seller deserves a mention in that regards given the time of the year.

I got this book for my teenager daughter and it’s perfect for this age as it has a good description of the artists and their work.

This was an excellent book to read. However I feel the biggest drawback is that it didn’t offer much in the way of African art.

I have always loved art but never studied it in school. With holidays coming up we discussed heading to galleries and museums but felt like we would have zero appreciation for the art and such.
This book delivers.
Its laid out beautifully as described, clear chapters, an index , timelines and more.
I feel like I can finally go to an art gallery and have an appreciation and better understanding.
Would be great for homeschooling too, or a teacher/parent looking for more info.
Minus a star for not enough info on artists on each page, it appears to be scattered throughout as well as in mini text box.

Have bought for niece for Christmas but not sure that she is going to like it. Too much small writing.
