I bought this book after reading all the reviews and I am very happy with my purchase. I run my own company and do my own advertising through google. The cost of using google ad words is going up, last year I spend about £200 a month but from January the clicks are more and more expensive, only in January I spend £400 on ad words, the most expensive one is about £6/7 per click. I cannot afford to spend that kind of money every month as I only run a small company. I phoned up a company that does search engine optimaziation and they quoted £500 + VAT per month for their basic services, and apparently it would take about 6-12 months to bring my website on the first page of google. As a result of all this here I am learning about search engine optimazitation. I know some basic stuff so I can say that I belong among beginers. This book is great. Its written in very simple language which even I understand. It explains how it all works and at the same guidance tells you what you should do to get better ranking. I was originaly going to buy the SEO book for dummies but the reviews were not that great. As a result I ended up buying this one and I am very pleased. All the reviews were helpful so thanks to you all guys. Highly recommend this book.

Having a well designed website is all well and good but money-wise, no point if no-one visits it and (worse still) leaves without trace feeling no better for the experience!

I am a newbie to the world of SEO and I have found this book very readable, without the flow interrupted by 100’s of quaint stories which seem to litter many ‘use the Internet to get rich!’ text books. The book is quite substantive tome (574 pages in the index) but I certainly was happy to ready it from cover to cover. Having done that, I am sure that I will be dipping to the book to reference specific sections as my familiarity and involvement with SEO grows.

I suspect that the text will not be very helpful for those already sleeping and breathing SEO already. The book deals with the fundamentals – which is perfect for me but possibly not the `get a real-life, you SEO geek!’ type.

Overall, I consider the money paid for this book as an investment, not a capital cost.

The Art of SEO is like the bible for SEO – it’s what everyone who does SEO or wants to learn about SEO needs to read. It is intense and is full of jargon but once you get use to it it does get easier. I recommend this book although be prepared for a hard read.

The Art of SEO (Theory in Practice (O’Reilly))

I already had a basic grasp of SEO before reading this book. I wanted it to give me a bit more idea of the theory behind things and how to go about SEO in a more systematic manner. The book does this well in a clear and easy to read way. It gives theory and practical ideas side by side with suggestions for software and web services that will help you along the way.

I do have a couple of complaints about the book through. First of all if you try to read the book all the way through it quickly becomes quite repetitive. The same techniques and problems are mentioned again and again but with the crucial details promised in later chapters. Fortunately the book has a very detailed index so you can use it more as a reference book and flick to the bits you are interested in.

The second problem has been mentioned in some other reviews and that is that some of the illustrations are very unclear.

Overall this is a good book to use to look for specific details but perhaps not to sit down and read all of the way through.

I am really pleased with this book, and is probably the best book I have bought to help me learn Web Design. As a complete SEO beginner it has given me the confidence to design my site correctly from the ground up. It covers a lot of ground, but explains all the finer details and hammers home the basic principles.

I have now read this book back to front at least twice and is indespensible as a reference book.

I have only docked one star as it references to SEO teams, consulting and company strategies a little too much. I suspect a lot of people buying this will simply want to optimise personal sites.

Still it is an excellent book and at […] worth every penny

I have just recently started my own web site and really wanted to take it seriously. I was in the British Army and sustained a serious spinal injury, so due to obvious limitations, providing for my family has taken its form through my web site. As a result I have purchased quite a lot of books on SEO, Social Media Marketing etc, anything that will help optimise my web site to gain the best results possible. Without a doubt, “The Art of SEO” has been the best book by quite a distance.

This book is incredibly well laid out, fluid in its delivery and not having you jump all over the place, learning about something you will not understand until later in the book. I would go so far as to say that anyone interested in gaining serious results for their online venture, most certainly should have this book to hand at all times, be it conventional or digital. I have the book installed on my iPhone, Kindle and iPad and never without it. At the beginning I did find it a bit difficult and thought that I was not going to grasp the concepts, however I sincerely think this was more to do with my own personal intelectual capacity or lack of it.

This book is not for people just purely wanting to make money from a web site, YouTude Channel or social networking site. With “The Art of SEO”, you will learn what I feel in much more important than money and that is gaining and keeping a community and thus receiving a steady stream of consistant reliable traffic. Pointing traffic to a site is not difficult, however turning that traffic into a loyal community is slightly more taxing but very much more rewarding and this is what “The Art of SEO”, guides you to. My site Techmedia Fusion has only been live for five weeks and as a direct result of implementing instructions from “The Art of SEO”, I have already noticed a vast difference in traffic and community build up on my site.
