I chose this book cos it was free on KU, obviously I like football too, which is a bonus. Its a very entertaining book, I enjoyed all the stories, actually remember a few, but most were new to me. I did not actually finish the whole book – I totally skipped Chapter 12 (spoiler alert, its just references) but I would recommend this book to anyone (obviously anyone with a love of football that is)

This is a wonderfully researched and thoroughly entertaining book featuring anecdotes and stories not only from the most popular genres of the game but also from the lower echelons of football too. Who would have thought 2 Glasgow Junior football teams would get a mention?
The author has successfully created a wonderful piece of work which is not only factual but is accompanied by laugh out loud amusing stories.
Without wishing to spoil anyone’s enjoyment there are two stories about Garrincha, the Brazilian legend and Graeme Souness in his managerial days. Both tales are hilarious.
My only disappointment with this book was getting to the final page and realising there was no more to read.
It really is that good.
A forthcoming sequel perhaps? Hopefully!

Well written and good choice of entertaining stories.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was a nice, easy read, as if the author is discussing the events with you. I had knowledge of about half of the events in the book, but this was fine. It was good to learn a bit more about them. I went to find some of the events on YouTube, which revived memories. Thanks Micheal, looking forward to Vol.2.

Very good little book with a few couple page football stories that I didn’t know before reading the book.

Decent enough read. It’s what I call a “pick up put down” book as it’s more an anecdotal book with facts, figures and events from around the world. This one will go on holiday with me as a beach read having thumbed through it as a pre read.
