Amazing book. The facts are genuinely interesting and often amusing. Written with a care and warmth that comes through. I meant it as a gift and read much more than intended and will now buy another for myself!

Brilliant. Witty. Amusing. Great book for the plane we can start flying again soon….

This is an excellently written book packed full or interesting and quirky car facts. It’s perfect for those passionate about their cars and/or those wanting to show off their new knowledge to their mates down the pub. A great find!!!

My one complaint about this book is that once you’ve started it, it’s very hard to stop – much like the racing driver whose brakes failed till he ended up leaving the track and running into a tree. It’s full of the most amazing stories, and the trivia we all love: where was the world’s first parking meter, when did the world’s first petrol station open, where is the world’s biggest roundabout, and what is the world’s hairiest car?
I loved the story about Noel Gallagher buying an expensive car, even though he couldn’t drive, then forgetting he’d bought it till it turned up at his house on the back of a delivery truck.
It’s a great read for anyone who loves cars, loves anecdotes, or sets pub quizzes! How long was the UK’s longest traffic jam? Go on, you’ll never guess.

A fabulous, funny, fact-packed compendium of interesting nuggets of motoring trivia. A great gift for the car nut in your life – something to dip into when they are visiting the smallest room. Recommend.

This is the kind of book that petrolheads and geeks are likely to read. It does not seem to have been proofread before publication. Sample errors: Open instead of Opel (appears twice in quick succession). Proust instead of Prost (F1 driver). There were many other spelling and grammatical errors (too many to list). I have read other similar books such as the “boring” series which avoided such errors. That said, there were many interesting things to be found in this book but it was somewhat spoilt for me by the mistakes.

What a great book. As a car nut, there’s invariably stories and nuggets of trivia that I’ve heard before in these kind of books, but I have to say that there weren’t many that I already knew about. It’s a really well researched book, with the writer avoiding the well trodden path of regurgitating the same old stories. If you want to read something that is truly interesting and off the beaten track, then buy yourself a copy. I promise that you won’t regret it.

The book was a Christmas gift to a car enthusiast, so not read by myself. In a post Christmas ‘thanks’ email, he said: “the car facts book is really good, hard to put down” so it sounds as if I made a good choice with the book.
