£9.60
The hotly anticipated and explosive third book in the New York Times bestselling Charlotte Holmes series.
It’s been a year since the shocking death of August Moriarty, and Jamie and Charlotte haven’t spoken.
Jamie is going through the motions at Sherringford, trying to finish his senior year without incident, with a nice girlfriend he can’t seem to fall for.
Charlotte is on the run, from Lucien Moriarty and from her own mistakes. No one has seen her since that fateful night on the lawn in Sussex–and Charlotte wants it that way. She knows she isn’t safe to be around. She knows her Watson can’t forgive her.
Holmes and Watson may not be looking to reconcile, but when strange things start happening, it’s clear that someone wants the team back together. Someone who has been quietly observing them both. Making plans. Biding their time.
Someone who wants to see one of them suffer and the other one dead.

I bought the third book of this amazing series for my daughter and she can’t stop talking about it. She likes that in this book it isn’t just Watson speaking- that it switches between Holmes and Watson( Charlotte and James/ Jamie). She absolutely adores this book and won’t stop until everyone she knows has read it.

How can you not love Holmes and Watson!!
The third instalment in the Charlotte Holmes series carries on a year after the fateful incident that happened at the end of The Last of August.
Watson has returned to Sherringford where he is just about coping and Holmes…. well Holmes is doing what Holmes does and is on the trail of Lucien Moriarty.
The book follows the point of view from both Watson and Holmes and what is going on in there lives but it’s not long before they are back together again against their Nemesis with a rocky road along the way.
This book was I think my favourite of the three so far. It had action, intrigue and watching his two young people cope with what they have already dealt with in their young lives.
Brittany Cavallaro has done it again with a fast paced book that I could not put down. I am excited to hear that there is also going to be a fourth Charlotte Holmes book!

I mean…wow. I’ve never loved a series this much, from start to finish. I honestly didn’t think I would with this one, either. Brittany Cavallaro is a master at spinning a story, building on characters as old as time, in a way that is neither too cheesy or overdone. She could have easily fallen down the same path that many others had when trying to weave a “Sherlockian” story, but she was able to take control and really make it her own.
Charlotte Holmes and Jamie Watson are the creations of Cavallaro, and the fact that they are descendants of THE Sherlock Holmes and John Watson does not even matter at this point, because I’m in it for Charlotte and Jamie. I’m in it for their story, their adventure, their journey and the mystery.
At first, I was a little iffy, thinking this was going to be one long book about both Jamie and Charlotte moping, but it quickly turned around when strange things started to happen to Jamie. Small, uninteresting incidents that could have easily been put away as pranks, except for his overwhelming paranoia that was developed from his friendship with Charlotte and also the events of the last book. Paranoia that helped him through this case, as he realized someone was out to hurt him and all those he loves to get back at Charlotte.
I really enjoyed seeing Jamie at the forefront of the events, taking control and getting to the bottom of things without Charlotte overshadowing him. He has definitely grown and changed in the year that has passed since August was shot. He is more mature but closed off, more focused, more paranoid and more in control. I loved the scene where Charlotte walks in on him thinking he needed saving, only to realize, he had things under control and what he really needed was a partner. That one scene put everything into perspective. Balanced the scales and displayed how much both Jamie and Charlotte have changed in the year they spent apart.
I loved the reunion. I loved the talk they FINALLY had. I loved how Cavallaro made us itch and wait for that moment they would reunite and when they did, she did not disappoint. They needed that time apart, and although it took forever to break that barrier, it was necessary. We, as readers, needed to distance ourselves from their relationship as well, we needed to get to know them separately, and it was very useful to do so. The chapters alternated between Charlotte and Jamie, and it was really good seeing them in a different light.
Here’s what I really appreciated about this book though – the fact that Cavallaro stayed true to the Holmes and Watson dynamic, even while trying to insert some romance. You don’t get a completely happy ending, and that’s exactly how it should be.
I was honestly devastated when I finished the book, because that was the end of the trilogy and I really am going to miss the adventures of Charlotte and Jamie. Except I quickly found out that Cavallaro is in the process of writing the fourth book, which puts a huge smile on my face even as I write this! Yes, I’m a sucker for YA mystery. I hope she doesn’t milk it too much, but I am excited to have one more book to look forward to.

I think I might be a little bit obsessed with charlottejamie. This book was so good. Full of angst and fast-paced. The reason it doesn’t have 5 stars is because my favourite part of this series is the charlottejamie content and they didn’t even interact properly until like 70% through, but when they did it was worth the wait. Also, I really enjoyed reading from both Jamie and Charlotte’s point of view so that was a nice addition.
And oh my god the emails at the end!! I could not stop smiling, I will literally go back to that epilogue whenever I’m down cause it will cheer me up instantly.
I will also likely spend the next 48 hours listening to evermore and relating the songs to charlottejamie wherever possible.

This bool explains carefully the ending of book 2 and has a satisfactory conclusion. Charlotte running around the world on a fake passport aged 17 isn’t entirely unrealistic, but Jamie getting away with wounding someone, however bad, with a gun like Watson, is. Book 4 is out and it finishes the story well.
