This book has some fantastic recipes that also taste just as good as they look.
I find sometimes when you have recipe book and follow the recipe word for word, it’s not as nice as you anticipated.

I pre ordered this as I have 1 of Kwoklyn’s books already and have made lots of recipes everyone a total banger and I’m not dissappointed. It’s a really nice looking gold book, good size and taller than his others. Some reciles can be found in hos other books but i dont mind that as theres plenry new 1s too. My mouth was watering reading through it and I already have a huge list I’m going to cook. I’ve made 1 already in the pic is the chicken thighs roasted in oyster sauce omg I cannot tell you how tasty they were ! Only a simple recipe with 5 ingredients but really delivered on taste i added a drizzle of sesame oil at the end and it was sublime we both said I’ll have to make that again. Some recipes I’ll need special ingredients for online bit once I have them there’s loads you can make with them. Condiments such as doubanjiang and yellow bean paste pop up in quite a few recipes but they aren’t hard to get hold of these days. Don’t let that put you off as there’s also loads of recipes that use basic store cupboard ingredients everyone will have in already. If you like cooking Chinese food and haven’t used any of his books before I highly recommend it you won’t be dissappointed. I’ll add more pics as I make more if i get chance to take them before I start scoffing the food lol

With 300 cookbooks in my collection, it is fair to say I am an avid cookbook fan. I already have all of Kwoklyn’s previous book so I ordered this primarily for the 50 new recipes not previously released. However, if you haven’t bought the previous books in his collection, you can save yourself having to do so by buying this compendium of his three previous books it is beautifully presented the recipes are simple fast and authentic to Chinese takeaway and Anglicised Chinese restaurant food and as importantly, the flavours are achieved with the minimum number of ingredients. Highly recommended.

Everyone’s ideas of how a particular Chinese takeaway meal should look, taste and present is different.
What this book does is offer a good balance of perception to actuality.
The recipes are real easy to follow, nothing overly complicated and pretentious.
I spent about £20 on base ingredients from a Chinese supermarket, most of which is available at hightstreet supermarkets, but at more cost to volume. I struggled to get a hold of one base ingredient (chili bean paste) but it soon came into stock again at the Chinese supermarket I use.

Everything I’ve made so far has been really tasty and enjoyable to cook.

A highlight for me is the Peking sauce recipe and even how to make your own Chinese takeaway style gravy along with Hoi sin sauce.

The book is well indexed so it’s easy to find what you’re looking for and jump straight to it.

    Well worth a buy, recommended.
