A pretty much comprehensive selection from the pen of Edgar Allen Poe, one of the worlds’ most underated writers of all time. I love the binding and leather bound feel of this impressive and weighty tome. It even has a ribbon bookmark, wonderful! It feels in your hands just like a victorian era book, which suits the scenario for the works within perfectly. Love it and a fantastic price too. Well done to the publishers!

This is a beautiful book.
It contains all of the stories, and all of the Poems, so your favorite is here, whether it’s “The pit and the pendulum”, “The raven”, “The gold bug”, “Lenore”, “The tell-tale heart”, The fall of the house of Usher”, and on and on.. (73 tales-49 poems)..
The introduction is an excellent overview of the life of Poe, and not over-written.
A chronology of important moments in Poe’s life is at the end of the book as well.
So its contents are 5 out of 5.
The book itself is extremely well bound. It’s thread bound (see photo), and not fully glued, like a lot of “hardback” books which are just mass paperback glued, with hard covers..
The paper is very high quality, smooth and soft white, strong with some see-through, but considering nearly 900 pages, in a book that’s very easy to hold, and very readable, it’s excellent quality.
The covers are embossed with silver highlights, it has a nice ribbon marker, it opens fully flat, with zero obscuring of text close to the spine, the cover opens initially (front and back cover), on a lovely Purple swirl effect initial/final card page.
The text is relatively small, but very readable and the typeset is excellent, for context, I am nearing 50, without glasses, but I feel coming close to needing them; and I can read this book in good light fairly comfortably.
I, like a lot of you, was looking for a well made, and well stocked, single volume of Poe’s works, that included his tales and poems, without feeling anything I wanted was missing; and this volume is perfect.
There is no need whatsoever to doubt (again) if this is the right volume, instead of that one, or the other……it definitely is!
