American authors should really research the English aristocracy before putting pen to paper. This book was a farce. Le brand would not be called mr Le Brand if he was the dukes heir he would now be the duke, he could not threaten to take Mary Janes title away as she would always be the dowager Duchess of Forrester. He may have succeeded in taking away money and property but if businesses money left to her by the previous duke in a will it would have been difficul without a king struggle and Mary Jane did not even try to discuss this with her lawyer who would have gone through the will at the time of the reading in detail. Showing her to be a total idiot, especially as her friend were a duke and duchess who would have supported her. Rosemary as the daughter of a duke would always be lady Rosemary the daughter of a duke and would not need the status of the earl to elevate her. Her mother as a duchess would know this and not have permitted Elena to say what was said as a few choice words would have set her straight. The servants call everyone by their first names what total rubbish. They would be saying my lady and calling them by their titles or referring to then as my lady . Badly researched , badly written it would have been better to do away with the titles and set this book in America amongst wealthy families as the language and manners would be better suited.

I enjoyed this story. At first, I thought that Harrison would always be a rake but his commitment to Mary-Jane was strong. His grandmother was a nasty woman and had such a strong effect on the story. However, love was stronger. When Harrison and Mary-Jane realised their love could conquer evil happiness followed. A good story.

The story and chzracters were really good. Unfortunately the proof reader missed quite a few incorrect words which is a shame.

MARY JANE – A very independent lady had an arranged marriage, her husband was not a very nice man, yet after her he died she felt quite surprised and secure knowing that her husband had left her and their young daughter Rosemary their home and financial security. (OR SO SHE THOUGHT).
CHARLES Le-Brand – her late husbands cousin arrived at her home informing her that everything her husband had left her was his and threatened that if she did not marry him he would put them on the streets with nothing, only giving her three days to make up her mind.
Terrified of this she took her daughter and went to her best friends home Theresa and Devlin knowing they would help her.
HARRISON THE EARL OF LINBURY – A well known Rake /confirmed bachelor was visiting his best friend Devlin. On overhearing Mary Jane’s conversation regarding her future he approaches her with an offer she can’t refuse (OR CAN SHE).
Harrison is in a similar situation where his grandmother is arranging a marriage for him (WHICH HE DEFINITELY HAS NO INTENTION OF DOING) .
He wants his life to continue as it is, different women/no commitment, he suggests a marriage of convenience for him and security for Mary Jane and her daughter. (SHE HAS HER OWN LIST OF RULES BEFORE SHE AGREES). TIME IS RUNNING OUT.
BRILLIANT CHARACTERS ABSOLUTELY LOVED DEVLIN – IN FACT GREAT STORYLINE AS WELL
WATCH OUT FOR SOME NASTY PEOPLE ALSO A SURPRISE AT THE END.
    I received an ARC copy

This is a good story, however, the end of the book being only available if you jump through hoops to find the extended epilogue is so infuriating. I spent about 20 minutes trying to find it for this book but have given up. I had almost decided that these extended epilogues were a waste of time having found some, only to find they were not worth the effort. Now today, I have decided that I won’t bother again. It is not worth it, I might even stop reading books that require you to jump through hoops

What a wonderful story it melted Harrison’s heart to accept Rosemary but his grandmother tried to spoil his joy he felt for Mary-Jane by meddling and telling lies. she didn’t love Harrison really and confessed to Mary-Jane that she had killed his mother this is a story thats got to be read to appreciate the outcome for Mary Jane whose life had been cruel with her first marriage the only good thing to come out of it was her daughter Rosemary well written this author has become one of my favourite’s
