The Enforcer: Lakeside University Hockey #1
£3.10
In a former life, I used to religiously attend Lakeside U’s hockey games. Then my ex-who-shall-not-be-named—the team’s top defensive enforcer—cross-checked my heart into the boards, and I haven’t set foot in that arena since.
But when fate conspires against me, I’m assigned to complete my senior athletic training internship with Nash’s team, and forced to work closely with the only guy I’ve ever loved. You know, the one who skated out of my life without looking back.
After what happened last time, I know better than to fall for him again. Not to mention, there’s a strict no-fraternization policy between trainers and their athletes. Problem is, our chemistry is hotter than ever—and he’s determined to win me back.
Before we know it, the boundaries begin to blur until we can’t see them anymore. But with so much on the line, I’m risking a lot more than just my heart this time.

This story was a bit more emotional and less heated then I expected, but was still very enjoyable.
We get a glimpse of Nash and Violet’s first interaction and then are thrown into the present day where they dont speak and can’t stand eachother. When Violet has her student internship placed with his hockey team, they are forced to be around each other and old wounds start to open as the come to terms with their lingering feelings.
I did like both main characters in this, I’m sucker for a troubled hero and a heroine who has a back bone. Nash could often be a jerk or closed off, but had a big heart, especially when it came to Vi. I felt Violet was sweet and hard working, but also true representation of a strong will woman who had a soft spot for her first love. There was quite a bit of push and pull, and only a few steamy scenes, but I liked that this book did focus on Nash and him confronting his issues, especially with his dad and trying to overcome them. His housemates and teammates were great, I especially loved Vaughn and I’m excited to learn more about Drew and Sav when their book comes out.
I received a ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a honest review .

I really enjoyed Vi and Nash story. They come together again after two years and although they know they belong together as always they fight it. Some areas of the book were a little soppy, for instance he called he petal and I was like, what! Apart from that you do get addicted wanting to know what is next for these two.

Averly Keelan has done it again. Every book of hers I read I fall in love with. The characters are so easy to relate to and the writing makes you feel like you are there experiencing it along side them.
It is such an easy book to read and enjoy!
I can’t wait for the next ones

Second chance romances are not something I read a lot but I’ve learnt that if Avery Keelan writes it, I’ll read it. I loved this and I’m tempted to change my stance on this trope honestly. This was a very easy read, the writing was great and the whole story felt so genuine. I was totally hooked and ended up reading it in one go because I couldn’t put it down.
This was very emotional, Violet and Nash are so meant to be and despite their breakup that chemistry and tension remains. Trying to stay away from each other was very much denial on both parts, it was inevitable and I loved how they ended up spending more and more time together. They were both so patient with each other in the ways they each needed, Nash really wanted to redeem himself for her and he put in the effort. I love them together and was so happy when they gave into their feelings again!
I love love love that there was no unnecessary 3rd act breakup, they communicated, worked through it together; and tada obviously things worked up better for it. That confrontation was cathartic and I love Violet & Nash’s future together. The whole team was such fun and I am desperate for Vaughn and Luna’s book pretty please! I love him already and we got only snippets.

I loved Violet and Nash. Nash is that dreamy possessive hockey player and reading about them finding their way back to one another was so enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this book but I got to the end feeling like things hadn’t been explained properly like how they broke up originally, I think it needed a better explanation (flashback). I also felt that he should have grovelled more and explained why he did what he did. Violet was just too forgiving for me and she never questioned why he did what he did but he went about questioning her behaviour after they broke up and expected her to explain. I also felt there were characters introduced for absolutely no reason e.g. Candace – what was the point as nothing happened with her! It was a good read but it could have been great!
