The Essential Guide to Technical Product Specification. Engineering Drawing
£41.80
This book has been produced as a companion to BS 8888, Technical product specification Specification, which is the definitive standard for technical product realisation. It offers straightforward guidance, together with pictorial representations, to all practitioners of technical product specification, providing the necessary tools to enable engineers engaged in design specification, manufacturing, and verification with the essential basic information required for specifying a product or component. As BS 8888 is being increasingly adopted in major sectors, particularly in defence contracts, so the need to use BS 8888 becomes more pressing. This publication presents up-to-date information on the technical drawing aspects of BS 8888, in a manner similar to the presentation in the old BS 308, and will help users trained in BS 308 to adapt to the new standards. It includes comprehensive sections extracted from and referenced to international standards relating to linear, geometric and surface texture dimensioning and tolerancing, together with the practice of welding symbology, limits and fits, and thread data. It also includes an illustrated index to all standards referenced in BS 8888.

Ideal for beginners and more notably engineers who don’t seem to get taught how to draw properly at university!

Very good book…

Great content, very clear and useful, however this is not a book! It is the printed contents of a book but requires you to bind/ put in a folder, whilst this isn’t the end of the world, for the price you would expect this to have already been done for you! This should be made more clear in the description.

As a product design graduate working as a CAD operative I wish I had bought this a year earlier as it would have answered many questions on how to dimension and tolerance parts. Good for those new to technical drawings and those who need a reminder. Simplistic visuals and explanations – would recommend buying.

This is ideal for any student engineers and possibly for more experienced engineers without the knowledge of BS8888. I preferred this book to the Manual of Engineering drawing (ISBN-10: 0080966527) because of the added GD&T content. The actually BS8888 document is provided to students at my Uni but this book makes for much simpler to learn. It is definitely a book that will follow me through my career.

This is an ideal book for designers. It simplifies BS8888 the most unfriendly standard that replaced BS308
This book will save you a fortune by not purchasing BS8888.

Was just a print out of the book, not the book itself. Very disappointing for £32 as it was not made clear you would have to bind yourself. The content is fine.
