Good book, well written and gives a lot of good advice for the newly diagnosed person (like me). The reason for not giving it five stars is that the recipes are all for 4- 6 people – as there is only myself who is diabetic and my partner who isn’t, I needed recipes for 2 people! Easier to double up ingredients for more people than it is to try and split the ingredients for less people!

Book arrived on time
Good book with ‘do-able’ recipes.

I got this due to health issues.
Was hoping for a lot more pictures as to what the food looks like. Totally dissappointed with the lack of pictures. Yes there are some., But with 80 recipies I’d expecty 80 pictures. Instead only got a 50-ish.
Also hoping for more information as in the Carb content etc. Each recipie only says ” Calories ” I do like the Meal planner at the back. That helps.
The paper the book is made from even feels cheap. It’s not the book I was expecting as I have 100’s of cook books including a few from The Hairy Bikers. This 1 just seems a bit of a let down with quality.
Giving it 4-5 due to the poor paper used.

Great recipes, easy to follow with plenty variety.
I would have preferred better-quality pages but that is reflected in the price.

I’m a big fan of the Hairy Dieter books. Each recipe usually gets a photo so you can flick through to find inspiration and see what end result you’re aiming for. This book is not that. The paper quality is cheap and nasty and won’t hold up to the spills and rigours of regular kitchen use. The photos that there are have been bundled together as a glossy insert away from the relevant recipes. The book is in large print for some reason – I know us diabetics can have eye issues but when combined with everything else, it feels like a ploy to bulk out the book. It’s very disappointing! 2 stars because the recipes as always are decent. Most of them have appeared in other HB books already. I didn’t mind that at all, having them all in one place is convenient. But now that I’ve discovered that the one place is such poor quality, I regret not just sticking with the original books. This one is below par and feels like it was thrown together to make a few quid off the diabetic market.
If you’re new to Si and Dave, stick to the first 3 Hairy Dieter books. If you have their other books already, don’t bother with this one.

This is a great book, I’m diabetic and I have followed these recipes which are tasty and great for anyone, not just diabetics!

I already have to cook 2 separate meals as my husband is the fussiest eater with a long list of don’t like, never tried and won’t eat things such as salad, rice, cheese, pasta….the list goes on. However I will eat most things and will always try stuff but if it’s complicated or needs too many ingredients that I don’t normally buy I just can’t do it. Love the granola though.

This is exactly what those newly diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes (and their nearest & dearest) need – a great variety of quick, tasty and nutritious meals that are safe to eat within the specified portion sizes.
There’s no doubting that changes in diet prompted by Type 2 Diabetes are challenging, but this book contains an abundance of evidence that life goes on – and that means continuing to enjoy your food.
Good common-sense advice, recipes and instructions, as you’d expect from the plain-talking Hairy Bikers. Highly recommended.
