I am new to the painting world and have watched many you tube videos that just didn’t seem to be helping me. I am so glad I bought this book, it teaches all sorts of techniques from textures, tools, colours etc. I’m sure this stuff is taught in classes so may not be as interesting or new if you have been educated in art. It’s given me the encouragement to try some new ways of painting and will be a book I refer to a lot. Would recommend for someone experimenting with painting and media painting

Beautifully illustrated and use of simple everyday objects and ideas,…releases the fear of creating abstracts and mark making. Pointers given to a joyful process of abstract painting. I am enjoying it immensely.

Loved the step by step analysis of how the paintings are created. Useful and accessible hints and tips. Wonderful, vivid pictures are an inspiration. Easy to understand explanations, delivered with a real sense of warmth and enthusiasm. Helen clearly loves her work and it’s infectious. I was lucky enough to attend some of her in person workshops a few years ago and this book is the next best thing!
