The Last Girl: The addictive new teen horror thriller of 2021 by a New York Times bestselling author, perfect for fans of Stephen King and Harrow Lake
£8.50
Scream meets Gossip Girl with a dash of One of Us is Lying!
When it comes to horror movies, the rules are clear:
– Avoid abandoned buildings, warehouses, and cabins at all times.
– Stay together: don’t split up, not even just to “check something out.…
– If there’s a murderer on the loose, do NOT make out with anyone …
New girl Rachel Chavez turns to horror movies for comfort, preferring them to the bored rich kids of her fancy New York High School. But then Rachel is recruited by the Mary Shelley Club, a mysterious student club that sets up terrifying Fear Tests; elaborate pranks inspired by urban legends and horror movies.
But when a sinister masked figure appears, Rachel realises that her past has caught up with her. It’s time for the ultimate prank to play out …
An atmospheric page-turner about loving scary movies, longing to belong, and uncovering the many masks people wear. Kirkus Reviews
A delightfully wicked thrill ride that had me on the edge of my seat. The Last Girl beckons the shadows and laughs in the face of fear. I didn’t want it to end!
Chelsea Pitcher, bestselling author of This Lie Can Kill You
The Last Girl is like my favourite teen horror movies in book form. It’s a tense, cinematic read that gripped me from the very beginning and is one of the best books I’ve read this year.

This book kept popping up as an ad on Facebook for me and, as a horror fan, it sounded like a really interesting premise. But me that’s all it is really. I never really grew attached to any of the characters so I didn’t care too much about them. I got bored at around 40% and skipped ahead to see if anything else interesting happened (not really?) to the ending. I have to disagree with reviews which say how gripped they were as I just wasn’t unfortunately.

Bought this as a Christmas present, but my niece said it was a great read, and not to frightening. She couldn’t put out down.

I absolutely loved this book. To be honest, it was quite slow in the beginning but after a while it was great. I love the plot twists and it shocked and surprised me. I was quite upset when Thayer was hurt because I got quite attached to him because he was such a likeable character. I really wish that there is a sequel to this book because it just seemed like there was a lot of unanswered questions.

Brilliant book and wonderful plot twist, However I feel Bram and Rachel’s conversation afterwards could have been more fueled by survivors guilt and desperation to share the pain between them
I also feel there were some romance undertones in their relationship so I would’ve loved for that to have been taken further but overall wonderful book

A smart, funny thriller for fans of good and so-bad-it’s-good horror movies.
This was exactly what I wanted. A clever horror novel with twists, jump scares and a good resolution.
Rachel Chavez and her mum have moved from Long Island to Brooklyn to create some distance from the aftermath of a home invasion. Rachel is a big horror movie fan, having found that exposure to fear in the controlled environment of a film makes her less scared of what actually happened to her.
At school she’s an outsider, but she begins to realise that there are others with similar interests to her – a Breakfast Club style group of people with no outwardly visible similarities, but who are brought together by their shared interest in horror movies and their love of a good scare.
In the grand tradition of Scream this is a very knowing horror movie. The horror tropes are acknowledged and put to good use. The author treats her readers with respect, knowing they’ll suspect everyone and everything while still providing some unexpected moments.
A really enjoyable and easy to read novel.

Loved the style of this book. The voice is quirky and engaging. Great story too.

This is the first book by Goldy Moldavsky that I’ve read, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. I’m a sucker for anything related to Mary Shelley and Frankenstein, and the premise of this book is great. So engaging.
All the characters are well written and believable. The narrative style is engaging, and Rachel’s a great MC. She’s vulnerable but active and strong, and she’s haunted by her past.
This is a solid read, but I found the pacing a little slow in the second half, so it took me a little longer to read it as I didn’t really feel that sense of urgency to pick it up until the ending. But the end is amazing—masterfully plotted, though I did wonder if the ending was a little too neatly tied up.
