Rebecca Taylor, the Dean and Director of Studies at the Open University Business School, explained why the book deserved to win:

“This book was a delight to read and was a highly refreshing approach to the world of management. The ‘big’ ideas have been boiled down into easily-digestible chunks that are perfect either as an introduction or a refresher for the more experienced manager. The personal writing style and lack of preaching makes it a brilliant desk-side companion for a manager of any level, and I highly recommend it.”

This little book is the “go to” if you’re interested in Management. It has plenty of good advice on practical applications of each theory and a must have if you’re in the world of Training.

Great layout and design. A brilliant, focussed, reminder of many management strategies. Ideal for my neurodivergent mind to just dip in and out to find what i need.

This Book was recommended on my course and its a great read to get familiar with management theories and how and why they work. It’s practical, an easy read, provides clear insights and will introduce or re-introduce you to some familiar terms and names that you’ve probably heard before (in work based courses). It’s worth the money and much cheaper than many text books too!

Bought for my wife, who is clearly better than me……she says it is very informative, but also clear and easy to understand. She has found it very helpful indeed. Seems very happy with it, and that’s all the recommendation I would need. She obviously married below her station…..

It’s a bit of an exaggeration to say the book contains all management theory, but it is REALLY comprehensive. Content wise it is has breadth rather than depth, but this makes it so useful for someone new to management or a student. I brought it to flick through to remind me how much I’ve forgotten!

I’m doing my NVQ level 5 in management, so my coach recommended this book & it’s amazing to help you easily understand the management theories and how to put them into practice.

I’m doing a Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA) and this is like the bible to me at the moment. If you just need the high level theory with some context its fab and will get you through most of your assignments. You can also use this to look at your own style of managing and leading to get ideas of things you may want to try to develop and build on for yourself. I think this book is genuinely a must for new and existing leaders and those who are studying leadership theory
