I’m a colour obsessive – much like the author of this book. Colour speaks to my heart & soul. It can make so many things in life better or worse. And I know what I like & how to put colours together – or I thought I did.

Because unlike the author I’ve never understood how or why colour can have such a big impact; she has spent many years exploring all aspects of colour & it’s influence on humans & has reproduced her findings in this brilliant book that I’m so grateful to have discovered!

She starts by explaining all these influences & then guides you through your own personal journey, so that you go on a mini voyage of discovery which could change the way you use colour forever! It’s not a large sized book but it’s worth it’s weight in gold & I will be recommending it to everyone I can!

I enjoyed reading the first part of the book, about the history of colour and the way we see colour. The quiz to determine your colour palette was quite good. What I really didn’t like was that once you determined what your palette is, there are very few examples of which colours sit within that palette. What’s the point in knowing what your palette is if you aren’t given decent examples of it?! I think it could have been improved by having a page of colour samples that make up each palette. There are only 4 palettes altogether. Disappointed really. I could have probably found the information I enjoyed reading online, and saved myself twelve quid and the feelings of frustration. Definitely could have been better.

This is a vibrant colourful book, I read it in one sitting! The images are strong, the style of writing is clear and inspiring. I was already in the middle of clearing my wardrobe and this was the perfect companion to encourage me to express myself and discover the colour flowing through my veins. I highly recommend.

“The Little Book of Colour” is my new bedside bible!
I’ve been following the author Karen HALLER on Social Media for a while now and couldn’t wait to get my hands on her new book.
The book itself is eye catching, a luxury hardback with beautifully smooth pages which delight the senses in my fingertips when turned.
As an Interior Designer I’m always interested in how colours make people feel, and not just the obvious visual appeal. How colour perceptions are instinctively built into our psyche and how people think something is blue when I think it’s purple.
I’ve been actively interested in Colour Psychology for a while now and this book has not just further consolidated what I have learned to date, it has really increased it.
The book is delightfully conversational in tone and so easy to read- you’ll struggle to put it down as you get sucked straight in and hit with knowledge bombs left, right and centre.
The handy exercises flowing through the book really make you stop and think, and means that absolutely anyone can work out a tonal colour palette that suits their home, their clothes and their personality.
I’m a Spring personality with a small hint of Winter, and once you work this out for yourself, so many things in life (not just colour related) make so much more sense.
With Karen’s help I’ve worked out that I don’t actually hate yellow, just certain shades of it jar and irritate me.
I will be recommending Karen’s book to all my clients from now on. I just hope that it doesn’t put me out of business!

If you know me, you’ll know that I love books, I love colour, and I love psychology. So you can imagine how excited I was when I found out about Karen Haller’s new book, The Little Book Of Colour: How To Use The Psychology Of Colour To Transform Your Life.
    And I wasn’t disappointed.

Firstly, this is a beautiful little book. There has clearly been a lot of time and thought put in to the presentation and it pays off. This book is a pleasure both to look at and to hold in your hand. From the matte cover to the gorgeous, glossy photographs inside, each part of the book is a visual treat.

    Secondly, I loved the content.
The book is divided into five sections
    – The history of colour
Haller takes us through the key points in the history of colour; what colour is, Newton’s discovery of the rainbow in light, and a whistle stop tour of the history of psychology and colour including people such as Aristotle, Jung, and Bauhaus.
    – Perceiving colour
Next up is how we perceive colour. This section talks about how we each see colour differently, how names of colour affect us, and how they vary between languages (In the English language, there are eleven basic terms for colour: red, pink, yellow, orange, brown, blue, green, purple, grey, white and black. Russian and Greek have two basic words for blue, Hungarian has two basic words for red, Hindi has no standard term for grey, and the word for green is used to describe the sky in both Vietnamese and Thai). There is also a chart of world colour symbolism which was incredibly interesting.
    – The relationship between colour and how we feel
This section takes us through the psychology of each colour and the colour seasons. I think this was my favourite section – everything was clearly laid out and is easily accessible.
    – Colour and your personality
This section is itself divided into four sections: How to wear colour; Colour in the home; Colour at work; Colour in relationships. This is really fun section with quizzes and note sections designed to help you work out what colours you like, what colours suit you, how colours make you feel and more.
    – The colour revolution
This is a summing up of the book and a call to use colour and not be afraid of it.

This book is about loving colour and using it in different areas of your life to help you understand yourself, make you feel more at home, help you to feel more confident, help you to look better and more.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it very useful when it comes to using colour in my life.
