The Midnight Village: A gorgeously enchanting witchy romance that sparkles with magic and love
£1.90
Star Brightheart bakes cakes that can help a person nail a job interview or mend a broken heart. But when a celebrity food critic nearly bites the dust after eating one of her cakes, she needs to disappear from her flashy public life in London. Fast.
She escapes to the one place where no one will find her; the secretive and exclusive village of Midnight.
But what she finds is a village full of witches, a thirty year old curse, a talking cat and a whole world of magic she never knew existed. Yet she feels like she belongs there, something Star has always struggled to feel anywhere else. And it’s not just because of the gorgeous young Mayor Wolf Oakwood who convinces her to stay, or the delightfully meddling resident witches that give her a welcome. There’s more that draws Star to Midnight. Something that goes beyond chance. It’s a discovery that will flip her world – and her heart – upside down once the truth comes to light.

I really loved this book brought it this prior sunday, the genre if the book encouraged me to purchase it as did the art illustration. I read it in two evenings at work as l had really enjoyed it and could not put it down. I would love if there was a follow on written to discover who the long-haired red hair adult female was in Star’s premonition was.

I’ll be honest, the cover of this book almost put me off, as I thought it would be just a bit of fluff of the YA chick lit variety. How wrong was I ! Yes, it is a lighthearted and uplifting read, and it provided all the escapism I needed in these depressing times we live in. But beyond that, this is a very well-written, imaginative, fun and witty story, with great characters, and of course, plenty of romantic interest and tension. It is also perfect for this time of year, as it takes place in the lead up to Christmas. It is truly a magical, sparkly, feel-good, fun read, and I thoroughly recommend it. ????

Initially I didn’t think this was my kind of story as it wasn’t Holly’s usual style but I am so glad I stuck with it. Simply a lovely magical festive read.

Something a little different from the uber talented Holly Martin this time. Absolutely loved this one! Its whimsical, and colourful and…well, magical! No spoilers from me but there are some fabulously quirky characters living in Midnight. As a cat owner, I loved Viktor. I can almost hear mine talk at times. And if only all mayors were like Wolf. Grab yourself a hot chocolate or a cup of tea or a nice glass of wine and prepare to be enchanted by this one. Loved it and was so sorry when it was done. I hope we get a return trip to Midnight in the future.

This is a wonderful book. I have read all Holly Martin’s book. I think this as been her best. I loved every word. I would recommend to anyone who wants to fall into a wonderful Story.

This book reminded me of many aspects of Harry Potter – mundane instead of Muggles, the character not realising she is a witch, talking cat etc, etc. Easy to see where the author acquired her inspiration from!
However, it’s a good read and the sort of book you don’t want to put down. Enjoy!
