A thought provoking romantic comedy. Well written story. Had tears in my eye when discussions of the underground railroad took place. The two families reuniting after generations was heartwarming. Beau and Lexi’s romance was interwoven into the fabric of the story and the past. A lovely read.

This was a different kind of read. It was interesting and full of discovery. I did have a small amount of trouble following the story but it was worth keeping at it.

So, being the voracious reader that I am, the search is always on for authors whose stories I can hear as though they were written for my own ears. Bookbub is really helpful for this. Even though most of their offerings dont land up on my Kindle, this book not only joined my rather embarrassingly large collection, but forced me to rush home to finish it, which I am hoping to do tonight; no scratch that, I will be finishing it tonight. grin… Who needs sleep anyway 🙂 and short sentences are highly overrated.
It is a simple story, but as with all the books that I have loved, it is deeply human, and deliciously funny. It is the funny that has made it really hard to put the book down. So if you want to meet a bunch of people who are all slightly odd, but really recognisable, and you want to spend a couple of hours with a grin on your face, this is the book for you.
