I have read this novella via Kindle Unlimited.
I have been very vocal in stating how short stories can be just as entertaining as the longer books, unfortunately, I read this book which goes against everything I have said about the short stories.
The author has no understanding of time and has things happen in a few days but then infers that it’s weeks.
Ryan – alpha – personal trainer and stripper. Manipulator and liar.
James – omega – consistently being treated like Cinder’s by his colleagues who don’t like James.
Ryan lies to James on several occasions. The last of which is his second “job”. James is always accepting and justifying Ryan’s lies, even when he catches Ryan in the act of his second “job”.
Ryan quits his second job but agrees to do one more night a few days after.
Yet the author then has Ryan and James date further, go out and celebrate James’ promotion, James discovers he’s pregnant and “ghosting” Ryan for a couple of days, before James catches Ryan in his second job. Also Ryan works his second job every night, even though Ryan doesn’t work between the night he quits to the last night he agrees to work.
The author then tries to raise the angst by having James unable to tell Ryan of his pregnancy!
Overall, I think the author didn’t know where to go with the storyline, and struggled with character and plot creating.
The story feels rushed, underdeveloped, and no concept of time. It comes across as very sloppy and amateurish.
