The Rules: A thriller for boys aged 13-15 (Ryan Jacobs)
£6.60
Somehow, he lost his freedom. Now he belongs to the Academy, and the rules have changed. What started out as a game has become a matter of life and death.
When Ryan Jacobs hacks into a top-secret computer system, he has no idea that his life is about to change. He faces his worst fears as a sinister organisation tries to use his skills for its own evil ends.
If he doesn’t think fast, someone will die.
At thirteen you shouldn’t have to face these kinds of issues. But at thirteen, you don’t get to decide THE RULES.
The Rules is the first book in the Ryan Jacobs series: a fast-paced action-packed thriller for a rebellious and digital generation that want to fight the system. If you like teenagers with attitude, you’re going to love Ryan Jacobs!

Our nephew said it was OK, quite good, quite interesting. He’s 14 but quite a young 14.

Very badly made book every other page falls out of the book. Would like a replacement but nowhere to ask for this.

He still likes the Michael Grant Plague etc series better but he loved this book, couldn’t put it down, nearly got cross with him for refusing to go to bed so he could finish it!

I read this with my 12 year old son and we both really enjoyed the book. It started with action right from page 1 and continued throughout. We could picture the events taking place as we read which added to the drama.
We are ordering books 2 & 3 on the back of this. Recommended for other 12 year olds

My son has Autism and although he’s high functioning, imagination isn’t a strong point for him, being he is very literal. I.e. you say it’s raining cats and dogs, he used to think it was raining cats and dogs. Anyway, I searched teen books as he had to do a school project/report on a book, either a book of choice or a school issued one, that may not be of interest. After reading the reviews of this and due to its content/story line, I hoped It’d gain his attention somewhat, so I purchased it and I’m so glad I did. He absolutely loved this book. His birthday is in a few days and he even asked for the 2 follow on books of this story, as part of his gifts. Therefore I had to oblige by ordering them.

When I say my son was a reluctant reader , I literally mean he wouldn’t EVER read for pleasure other than a couple of football fact books. He never experienced the joy of being immersed in a story until I bought him this book. He raced through it and immediately asked for the next one. I don’t know what Paul Orton has, but he’s definitely got something!

Just bought this book for the son’s 13th birthday and he loved it! said it was a great book and he read 65 pages on the first night. It’s a difficult age to buy presents for, but I knew he liked the Alex Rider series so happy to know there are more books in this series. Ps: He loves Minecraft gaming if any reference to his likes.

When I picked up this book I couldn’t put it down. This novel is truly incredible in my opinion and really makes me picture what was happening in the main characters mind. I’m a 12 year old boy who loves reading books and this one is up there with one of my favourites. I 100% recommend.
