This is a crucial read for prospective adopters, adoptive parents, and all professionals involved in adoption. It’s really well written – not too much neurobabble, and plenty of real examples – with easy to digest advice and reflection points. Certainly one of the best trauma books I have read, and one that I use regularly as a social worker assessing prospective adoptive parents.

This is a useful book in understanding the impact of trauma on adopted children. It is a bit American, which means that some of the suggestions made about therapy etc are not quite as useful as they might be in the States, but nonetheless, it has valuable suggestions for parents and professionals alike.
