    Dan writes in a really engaging way with helpful illustrations throughout. The examples throughout the book really bring the content to life and help cement the ideas. Useful for students and business professionals. Personally I am in a marketing function with no formal marketing background and this was helpful to build on what I know. It also provided helpful ideas for active projects. Great book.

    Byron Sharp’s cover quote says it all. And if you know Byron you know his thoughts on brand are pretty important.

    Dan’s book is a tonic, written with the kind of simplicity only deep experience and understanding delivers. The drawings are just perfect, too, revealing Dan’s innate creativity and ability to communicate complex topics with consummate ease.

    This probably should have been the book I should have read when I started my career at Kantar. It didn’t exist but now it does!
    I will encourage all my team to read it, and I agree with Byron Sharp: “this book is better than most university brand management books”.

    I bought this book back in Jan and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve referred back to it for inspiration or just to explain some models / examples back to people that I work with (Non-marketers).

    It’s a wonderful aid (as are his other books!) which I think I have the full collection of now!

    The Smart Branding Book so succinctly and clearly communicates much of our best contemporary thinking by the greatest brand minds that you don’t really have an excuse *not* to read it.

    Also, if you get really good at replicating the simple but impactful visuals you can always bash them out on a whiteboard and impress everyone in the board room with your sparkling insight! Or for playing an ultra-niche game of Pictionary.

    Dan clearly knows what he’s talking about. There years worth of branding nuggets and ideas in here and the book is a very convenient size for carrying around and making sure you look knowledgeable, even if, like me, you are not!
