I’m going to uni in September to study MHN and was recommended this book by a past nursing student. I am only half way through it already and I just want to say how incredibly helpful I’m finding it. I currently work as a HCA and some sections are useful for this role too. I love the writing style as it’s very friendly and not patronising as some handbooks are. There are plenty of good tips on all areas from choosing a university to surviving the course, all the way to graduating. I can tell it’s going to be one of my favourite nursing books. Thank you so much.

What more can I say, my only regret is that I didn’t get this book in my first year. Straight to the point! Covers almost all you need to know from year 1-3! Very simple language even for non-native speakers! Every page in this book is worth the time! User friendly, I feel my fellow student is relating to me when reading this book! I would HIGHLY recommend!!!

Absolutely must buy if you’re a student nurse. This is like my bible and it’ll be staying close to me when I graduate too, it explains lots of things you may have not even thought to worry about yet
Great for access students etc too

Soooo glad I bought this!! I’ve cited it in my essays! There was one copy in the uni library and folk were desperate to get it. I read it before I started my course and I’m really glad I did. Very informative, like getting advice from a friend.

Without sounding pompous I wasn’t sure how much the handbook could help me as a nursing secondee but I was curious from hearing others rave about the book. I am a single working dyslexic mum, a book has to be something amazing for me to read from start to finish without putting it down and this was exactly that. I can’t fault the book, its written as if a good friend has written a note for help. My only disappointment is I didn’t buy this as soon as I started working towards a nursing career as a wannabe student nurse. The books gives a sensible approach on how to approach the academic and placement requirements, I wouldn’t be without this book and I expect it will be well used and loved by the time I finish the course. Look forward to buying the newly qualified handbook in the next few years.
